Does anyone know why all but two of the windows in the Big Tree (Woodseats) have been boarded up ?

Also noticed the Police Helicopter was hovering over that area on Sat night...

I was driving towards woodseats past graves park when all this was happening. looks like it kicked off upstairs in the pub as there were loads of riot vans and police cars everywhere. Took ages for me to get thru woodseats. the chopper was hovering over abby lane way and I saw cop cars parked way down chesterfield road towards abby lane junction. they had just napped a young lad as they were putting cuffs on him and also a guy with his face punched in. Hate to say it but it is rough down woodseats, full of ********s. not everyone is but most who go to the pubs down there, think they are all hard and cool (not). very very townie.....

It's always been like that. I used to drink up the a few years ago. It's much better down Heeley.

It would seem that the Big Tree has a reputation for this kind of behaviour.

Not all bad at Woodseats, Big Tree, well yes OK, of course but 'The Abbey' few hundred yards up the hill, brilliant busy local, no probs at all, good prices. - Further Down the hill, weatherspoons and the rest, no worries. I drank in these pubs for a year or so when I was unfortunate enough to have 'The old Mother Redcap' as my local! I took a bus ride down to the 'Abbey' - a welcoming local:thumbsup:

It was in the Star last night, there was a mass brawl at the Big Tree, they suspect rival gangs of football hooligans.

Couple of the boys I knock about with at work grew up round there -apparently the Big Tree is where all the chavs that they went to school with go in.

Having said that the rest of Woodseats is tip top IMO.

Sounds well out of order - just no need for it.

absolutly true, they are not real men cos they can't fight one one one, its either in groups or using glasses and tables etc!
