Hello,
I have just ordered a BT line and I want to know my account number so i can use online management.
Format is 2 letters and 8 numbers
AANNNNNNNN
SF12345678
Anyone know the 2 letters for the sheffield / silkstone area?
Cheers
You get the number on your printed bill or contract documents - I'm not sure whether the two letter code is geographical based, exchange based or just semi-random.
I had this problem myself a couple of years ago and managed to get the reference number by phoning the billing people.

Cant get it off the bill (not had one yet)
Contract got one but only lists a number not alpha before it.
I know it is exchange based but the correct one for me does not seem to work.
Phoning BT now.... (wish me luck)

Good luck. Remember, if the first person you call at BT can't help, they'll find someone who can. And if they make an appointment, they'll do their best to keep it.
Surely those "promises" that BT make are actually common sense. They are what I would expect of any company and I certainly don't expect them to be used as selling points. What next? "If you ring us, we will usually answer"? "If you send us a letter, we will try to reply"? :loopy: :loopy:

"Out offices are now closed please call back after 8am-8pm Monday - Saturday" ARGH.
"To use our automated system enter your phone number and account number.... (if I knew it!)" :loopy: :loopy:
Wish me luck tomorrow, wonder what country call center I will get....

Thank you. But tried that with my known account number but to no avial.
No other option only BT as supplier as I want broadband, not order it yet cos they say I dont exist. ARGH!!  :loopy: :loopy:
Different parts of the country have different Databases which are of a two letter reference. If you are in Sheffield you will be on the Sheffield & Lincs database.
