I want one but my two terrors are enough! kittenta 06-09-2006, 22:38 One of the ginger ones is as small as a gerbil so keeping a very close eye on it but all doing well so far!! Moonbird 06-09-2006, 23:16 Awww what beautiful kittens, you will be fighting off a queue for them when they are ready i would think, the gingers are a lovely rich colour, awww and good luck to the little one  . Are the other 2 torti and a black one? EdnaKrabappe 06-09-2006, 23:20 They are gorgeous and making me very broody. kittenta 06-09-2006, 23:21 there is one torti, one black and one black and white, mum doesn't like me :( she's all for her dad  shame she forgets who actually feeds her  medusa 06-09-2006, 23:36 The fact that she's had 6 and this is her 3rd litter shows that you've been feeding her really well. By the 3rd pregnancy most cats have much fewer babies cos their bodies don't have enough resources to build more. The most recently delivered litter at the Shelter is a litter of 7, born to a tiny little thing who's only really a big kitten herself (we think she's about 8 months- awwww) and who had to have a caesarian cos her bone structure is just too tiny to fit the kits through her little pelvis. Being very slight doesn't seem to make any difference to the queen's ability to look after lots of babies though- just make sure that she has as much kitten food to eat as she wants, cos she'll need the calories to make enough milk to make them grow big and strong. We use Hills Feline Growth biscuits to offer freely on top of whatever meaty food she likes. They're totally gorgeous BTW- I love ginger cats and torties. kittenta 07-09-2006, 07:03 - just make sure that she has as much kitten food to eat as she wants, cos she'll need the calories to make enough milk to make them grow big and strong. This is her second little tho not third, the other one has had her third lol Confusing ain't it!! I'll try to make myself clearer sorry!! The one with the kittens (six new additions) is Sasha. This is her second litter (hopefully last) and can't bare to be an inch away from her babies at the minute so she isn't going out yet! The one i'm trying to keep in is Sheba. Sheba is sashas mother and i've just rehomed her third little yesterday and now trying to somehow keep her in so she can be spayed!! I hope that makes things a bit clearer! Sorry for confusing people!! medusa 07-09-2006, 11:03 My point with the kitten food is that she'll need to eat less if the food is more calorie-rich, so some dry kitten food like Hills will be dual purpose for her and the babies. Nursing mums use up to 4 times as many calories as a non-nursing cat, and kitten food is really rich in calories and nutrients. kittenta 07-09-2006, 18:39 Didn't know that, thanks for the info  kittenta 07-09-2006, 21:55 The smallest kitten has been gettingreally weak and i've found out it wasn't feeding from mom. Now i'm having to give it made up milk from the vet in a syringe every two hours. It seems to be picking up a little. Fingers crossed it turns out ok. jediwarrior 09-09-2006, 15:09 have u anymore pics now kittens older kittenta 10-09-2006, 00:14 Unfortunatly we lost a kitten yesterday, no idea why, it looked perfectly healthy. Then today we lost the small weak one. Although I have a feeling that there was something odd about it, not a very good word but it's a feeling hard to describe! The other four seem to be doing very well and i'll post some more piccys when I take some tomorrow! jediwarrior 10-09-2006, 12:50 awww im so sorry hope u are ok hope it was`nt in any pain we know u did ur best :( kittenta 10-09-2006, 20:29 I am gutted. It had started to get more lively. Didn't seem to be in pain. I thought it was getting better :( Oh well i suppose if there was something badly wrong with it, it is better than it suffering, sounds awful I know but can't stand animals being in pain. |
