Just moved back to Sheffield - Headford area - after being gone for a couple of years living in Oxford.
New job in Leeds but you couldn't pay me to live there....
Given the congestion on the roads, any suggestion as to the best time to set off from Sheffield city centre so as to get to Leeds centre by - say - 7.50/8.00am?....by car that is.
Don t know about that time but I have to be at our office on the outskirts of Leeds by 9 some days. I live in Ecclesall and if I leave at 7.30am ish I can be in Leeds for 8.30 ish. Found Junction 40 onwards to be a nightmare.
If you leave at 7am you should be fine

walk to the train station and get the 7.12 train which arrives before 8.00
Book a seat on the Virgin train that goes/used to go from B-ham through to Edinburgh daily, it only makes one stop at Wakefield.
If you do go by car then you will find the journey into Leeds city centre horrendous. The M1 from just above junction 39 to the M62 usually is very congested and has very slow moving traffic every day. the journey from the outskirts into the centre is equally as bad. If you can go by train then I would.
I suppose you could drive part of the way and then park up at a train station in the Wakefield area and get the train the rest of the way!

i wouldnt go to leeds full stop
8AM train ain't bad either, not as nice as the Virgin one but get's you there quicker than car at that time of day. Flexible hours are the best option for the Sheffield-Leeds route, I'll probably shift my day when I move to Sheffield in a few months..........
One thing, don't include the new Leeds supertram in any of your journey plan, it's just been scrapped as part of the new government's transport plan!
