View Full Version : Hillsborough V Walkley em16uk 17-07-2004, 16:30 Which? and Why again please? thanks Rich 17-07-2004, 16:43 Both areas are cool IMO, good spread out of pubs, easy access to shops etc, and crucially, well it would be for me anyway, good access to good, reliable bus routes, although Hillsborough does have a slight advantage over Walkley in this area. Advantage of Walkley though is that it's a lot quieter at night than Hillsborough, cos there's no loudmouthed drunken chavs coming out of pubs at all hours like down Hillsborough, well there is but you don't hear them ALL at the same time... Hillsborough also has the Supertram, which is an added bonus IMO. So really my thoughts are that Walkley is good if you want a quiet area with easy access to shops and reasonable bus services, but if you want even better bus services, bigger shops etc you're best off down Hillsborough. elf 19-07-2004, 06:16 I agree but see it a bit differently - we live in Walkley so we have the quiet and the views (yaaay) but are close enough to Hillsborough to make use of all the facilities - best of both worlds really! alternageek 19-07-2004, 14:43 id like to live in walkley cause a good friend of mine is there, and the views from the house he shares are gorgeous. wibbles 19-07-2004, 15:16 Originally posted by elf I agree but see it a bit differently - we live in Walkley so we have the quiet and the views (yaaay) but are close enough to Hillsborough to make use of all the facilities - best of both worlds really! I live in Hillsboro close to all the amenities but close enough to Walkley to experience the quite and views....and its cheaper to buy a house in Hillsborough than it is in Walkley. Actually I live in Lower Walkley :D :D Ravenger 19-07-2004, 15:53 Originally posted by elf I agree but see it a bit differently - we live in Walkley so we have the quiet and the views (yaaay) but are close enough to Hillsborough to make use of all the facilities - best of both worlds really! Same here! Only downside to Walkley is that the high street is very scruffy and lots of shops have closed down. And also the council needs to sort out Ruskin park so it has some decent play equipment and is properly maintained. |
