I did!

The one and only time I was super cool with my friends... Pitfall was my favourite game.

Jungle Hunt was brilliant! I remember my young uncle having one, which he also let me borrow for a while. My favourite was probably Defender.

...although to my dismay, I can't actually find any threads on the subject of Amigas. I think I'll start one. Perhaps we could make it an Amiga vs. ST thread so you can get involved Bradders. It'll be a welcome break from those OS X vs. Windoze threads that I'm constantly winning...

When the first 2600 came out (with the fake wood panelling on the front), the price was £130, with games at £30. What would that work out at in today's money?

My favourite game was Pitfall 2 - the in-game music was so jolly, and changed to "fly through the air with the greatest of ease" when you grabbed a balloon in the caverns!

Using a handy online calculator, I discovered that -

In 2005 (it didn't do 2006 or 7), £130.00 from 1977 was worth:

£540.93 using the retail price index
£567.81 using the GDP deflator
£908.02 using average earnings
£1,020.06 using per capita GDP
£1,093.02 using the GDP

In 2005, £30.00 from 1977 was worth:

£124.83 using the retail price index
£131.03 using the GDP deflator
£209.54 using average earnings
£235.40 using per capita GDP
£252.24 using the GDP

So a lot more than a PS3... ;)
