Phanerothyme 19-06-2003, 19:27 kempel(?) and sons, Pork Butchers on Abbeydale Road (nr the old cinema opposite the spar) is fantastic. No I mean that it really is fantastic. Smoked meat too! jonnyb 22-06-2003, 12:03 Likewise, I've been trying to look for a good butcher that sells thick bacon, but no luck yet :( Ideally somewhere in Jeddah would be nice... mullers 23-06-2003, 11:14 There is a butchers on the corner of Sharrowvale Road and Hickmott Road that claims to have the best pork. I have not tried it myself but have heard a lot of good reports about it. Miss_60 23-06-2003, 11:18 .....great butcher in Royston Vasey .....sells ya the "special stuff" steelblade 23-06-2003, 12:46 Best place for sausage is Funks' in Hillsborough, opposite co-op. It's delicious and hardly contains any fat at all. They also do yummy breadcakes. Mo 23-06-2003, 16:46 For good bacon and sausage try Chatsworth Farm shop. Sounds expensive but it's not. It is good quality food and I realise it's a bit of a drive but do as I do and stock up the freezer. The bacon is dry.....none if this rubbish where when you fry it the pan fills with a yukky white foam. the sausages are wonderful too with lots of different types.:D :D RPG 23-06-2003, 17:01 Originally posted by Mo For good bacon and sausage try Chatsworth Farm shop. How are there burgers I love a nice meaty burger, i don't buy them from the supermarket anymore when having a BBQ would rather give an independent trader my cash olilew 15-08-2010, 23:37 the name says it all olilew 15-08-2010, 23:40 www.realmeat.co.uk hard2miss 16-08-2010, 00:02 Hillsborough barracks, forgot the name ARrrrrr! got it, I think, crawshaws? Good home made meat products anyhow, soured locally. ReginaldD 16-08-2010, 01:02 I used to like crawshaws at the barracks when i worked up at hillsborough, got some nice steaks there once, not sure if its as good now that was a few years back libertarian 16-08-2010, 01:06 www.realmeat.co.uk Real Meat are good but expensive. I guess you get what you pay for... There are cheaper but still nice butchers out there that I usually use, but I do go to Real Meat when I want a really premium piece of meat. Also if they dont have what you want they've been known to get in what you do. markfor 16-08-2010, 06:27 Roneys Sharrow Vale Rd Great sausages Katya 16-08-2010, 07:29 Sheffield is really lucky to have so many independent butchers. We moved here from Birmingham 15 years ago - at that time there were very few non-chain butchers in Birmingham so it was wonderful to find out how many independent ones there were here. longchat 16-08-2010, 10:40 .....great butcher in Royston Vasey .....sells ya the "special stuff" there will be nothing in there for you :hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi: longchat 16-08-2010, 10:46 there will be nothing in there for you :hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi: sorry bit late but could not resist :huh::hihi: Mandem 16-08-2010, 15:36 The butcher on Crookes (Lambs) i think. They cut their bacon by hand, so you can have it as thick or thin as you want. Their sausages are nice as well. Bulgarian 16-08-2010, 15:42 The butchers at Heeley Green cut the dry cured bacon by hand, and it's good value for money. *Wallace* 16-08-2010, 15:47 Let me guess do they sell real meat not Birds Eye? How are there burgers I love a nice meaty burger, i don't buy them from the supermarket anymore when having a BBQ would rather give an independent trader my cash Buy some steak mince mix with some breadcrumbs herbs and spices you have in the house and an egg,mix really well leave in fridge for a couple of hours form into burger shapes and shallow fry or bung in the oven they are cheap yummy and you know exactly what's in them. platts 16-08-2010, 16:08 The butchers at Heeley Green cut the dry cured bacon by hand, and it's good value for money. This. Get some every Saturday and is always quality, much better than the watery stuff you get in supermarkets!! Don-Tron 16-08-2010, 16:14 my boyfriends a butcher at canisters on ringinglow road, they sell really thick bacon pearsonally i prefer thin bacon or surely its a gammon steak, and they do right nice sausage Yog Sothoth 16-08-2010, 17:40 We go to Castle Market, can't remember our favourite shop's name at the moment, but it's the last one on the right if you turn right at the bottom of the ramp. All their meat is cut from carcases, not bought bagged or boxed. We like Neck Fillet of lamb, and they are always happy to get a whole neck out of the cold store and cut out a couple of fillets for us. In fact, they know us now and always keep some in for us. Best cut for kebabs ever. Just made a batch of cornish pasties using their stewing steak and, unlike meat from any supermarket I've ever been to, I didn't have to trim any of it - no sinew or hard fat in sight. BTW the same family own Batty's at Woodseats. denlin 16-08-2010, 18:45 best butcher I've ever been to is in Newark town centre, cures all his own meat under his shop and makes speciality sausages to die for but is quite expensive.:D ptigga 16-08-2010, 19:39 Lambs at the top of Crookes slice the bacon as they serve it so you can specify how thick you want it. The smoked bacon that they do is really tasty. Chris Beech in Walkley does lovely cured bacon which is nice and thick, and again the smoked option is superb. The thing I like about this butchers is that they always have the full selection of bacon every morning (back bacon, middle bacon, streaky bacon and the aforementioned cured back bacon) so you can be picky. ange1312 16-08-2010, 20:11 Wortley farm shop or Wasteneys on Norfolk Hill at Grenoside, has the abattoir on site proper old fashioned butchers will the best tasting local meat |
