Traffic Calming plan on Blackstock Road is planned.

This will take the form of speed humps in some way another.

The exact placing of the humps have not been released but I hope it will be similar to further up the road (near norton water tower) and be at either side of the school crossing patrol point with a humped zebra crossing at that point.

Humps aren't need for the full length of the road because the majority of the accidents have occured either side of the bridge in the valley.

If humps weren't used what are the members thoughts on other ways to calm the speed of traffic on this road to help reduce the accidents.

Mine is a speed warning device that reminds you its only 30 if you trgger it by going over the speed limit. Works with a gatso but the camera only triggers the matrix sign not records who is speeding.

Speed cameras would only be needed if that dosn't work.

I look forward to hearing you suggestions

I drive over the A57 to Oldham quite a lot and just after Glossop I go through quite a few sets of these. I think they are very effective - you certainly can't miss the warning if you set one off.

I certainly watch my speed more carefully in those areas and in my experience other drivers seem to as well. I'm surprised they haven't been used more widely.

I think part of the reason they work is that it's quite embarrassing when other road users see you set one off!
