During the next few weeks I may be changing my ISP from BT to Sky broadband.What do I do with all my photos stored in "MY Documents" Will they just automatically be transferred,or should I save them to disc or storage pod thing.

I'm assuming you are a referring to the 'My Documents' folder on your computer? If so this should be unaffected by any change in ISP. However it's always worth making a backup of files you feel you want to keep so I would suggest writing them to disk or using one of the 'flash drives' to back them up.

Anything stored in My Documents etc. shouldn't be affected by your changing your internet service provider. However, as torin8 says, it's always wise to back up anything you have stored (every now and again), just in case you do have a major crash.

You may have to change your email provider (and therefore your email address), unless you pay btinternet, if that's who you're still with, a premium; although, if you're still on dial-up, as long as you dial up every 90 days (a shorter time is usually better), you can keep your btinternet email address. All you have to do is connect for a few seconds, and then disconnect from the dial-up service (you have to plug in to your direct phone line, and not through the modem/router to do that).

Yes Pattricia, your photos will be OK, if you have these stored on your C: Drive only I would certainly recommend you back them up to disk.
I never have any pictures stored on C: Drive, all mine are on a separate hard drive and also stored on line at photobox (http://www.photobox.co.uk/logout.html?args=) and copied to CD.

The push in storage thing (usb or flash drive) would be easier as you can just drag and drop your files to it. You'll probably need to install software to write files to a CD or DVD if you have never done it before.

You might be better getting a hotmail, yahoo or gmail account for your email. That way it doesn't matter when you change your ISP as it's not dependent on them :)

I'm on my Dad's computer you see, and when I try to log in to Gmail.com on here, all the site does is constantly refresh all the time, my Gmail inbox never comes up.

THAT is why I'm enquiring about POP3 access, NOT for something as mundane as forgetting my password, and I know all about the password retrieval, I forgot my MSN password last night, and managed to create a new one without any problems via the retrieval form.

And furthermore I'm finding your digs at me lately a little tiresome, please stop it or I will be forced to report you to the Mods.

Im ashamed to say Anne,technically,Im not as clever as you regarding E Mails.At the moment I have Yahoo Mail & O.E.but Im on the waiting list with Sky Broadband,who say they will contact me within the next few weeks.I registered an interest with them with my present E Mail address,so they may not be able to contact me if I change it.But I would be interested once Im on broadband.

Do you have a plain yahoo email as in [yourname]@yahoo.co.uk? If you are, you won't have to change it because that is independent from an ISP.

There is nothing to stop you have more than one email address, from a different provider but, if you are going to find that a bit too much to handle, then it is a good idea to wait.

No its not that kind of E Mail Anne. I do know that you can have more than one E Mail address , and I would like to pursue that when Im on broadband, if you would help me with that later on..
