View Full Version : What are SuperTrams?
I am sorry if this is a silly question but is a SuperTram just a regular tram in Sheffield? I am asking because I bought a TravelMaster (normally £750 for a year) for £187.60 for nine months, as a special offer on my course, and it said "unlimited travel on trains, SuperTrams and busses in South Yorkshire". Not a bad deal, eh?!
SpiderPete 31-08-2006, 17:52 It is yes :)
Thanks SpiderPete! That was fast! :D
SpiderPete 31-08-2006, 17:55 I aim to please :hihi:
I went to the transport interchange the other day. I said "Supertrams?"
They said "Yes they are good aren't they?"

It's a blinding deal. I also think passes should be available at a massively discounted rate to SHU staff seeing as they got rid of all the staff parking and want to encourage the use of public transport.
Don't forget if you lose it, you have to replace it at full cost and if you withdraw from studying you don't get your money back!
And the 'tram was originally called the South Yorkshire Supertram, whereas it is now the Stagecoach Supertram. Supertram just got shortened.
Thanks for that BobsGirl! Interesting!

I agree!

If I lose it I will pretend it was stolen and then it is just £25 to replace. LOL! Oh and as for dropping out, please do not even entertain the thought of that happening! LOL! Yikes.

Now there was me thinking I didn't have to point out the obvious ... but I will for good measure. You'll have to provide a Crime Number and don't think people haven't tried it ;)
A.B.Yaffle 31-08-2006, 18:08 Seems a bit harsh having to pay the full £700+ if we lose it, as they are able to replace it for £25 if it gets stolen!
I will be eligible for one in a few weeks when I enrol at Hallam. :)

Sounds like a fool proof scheme.....
'Hello I've lost my travel pass'
'That'll be £700 please'
'Sorry did I say lost, I meant it's been stolen'
'Oh well in that case, £25 please'

Oi! You get an extra week of holidays to me?! LOL!
Best of luck with that Patchy. I am sure we will meet at some stage.

I seem to remember that if you lose something of value; and someone finds it and keeps it, without trying to trace the owner, that they are technically stealing.
Therefore, if this guy loses his ticket on the bus, or whatever, he could say someone had found it and kept it.
Ergo , it has been stolen! So therefore he gets his cheap replacement.

Oh no, a crime number for something that hasnt actually been stolen!!
I bet thats impossible! ;)
dynamicdebz 31-08-2006, 19:41 I'm not suggesting anything being a law abiding citizen but if you report any crime to the police you get a crime number, even over the phone.
I once genuinely felt someone go into my bag while in Meadowhall on a very busy day, I looked in my bag & my purse was gone. In the distance was 2 people rushing there way through the crowds. It was obviously them but I couldn't describe them at all, not even their sex.
Phoned the police, they asked me a couple of questions & they gave me a crime number not that it did any good.
My council home window was accidentally smashed by me, I phoned the council & they came & repaired it. The workman said you should've reported it to police saying it was like that when you got home, then I would've got a crime number but as I hadn't I would be charged for the new window. ( they never did send me the bill)
