Gentle stretching can help, if its a pain problem icing and then heat packs can help. If not happy with Dr`s opinion consult a sports injury specialist or physio. mark1971 01-09-2006, 03:43 funnily enough i'm having problems with the tendon in my right ankle after spraining it,i'v had a plaster cast (pot)on for 3 weeks & few sessions off physiotherapy but for some reason i'm still having pain but the physiotherapist just says keep giving my ankle regular exercise & stretches for which i have been doing for the past 4 weeks  Leebo84 01-09-2006, 08:13 i did my achilles tendon and i found that if i rested it, it seized up and took ages to loosen again! i would certainly reccomend light exercise, as much as you can do on it without overloading it and an exercise which involves standing on a tennis ball (on the afflicted ankle) and trying to remain balanced on it - this forces you into using the ankle in all directions and although initially very painful it builds up strength very quick. this exercise can also be done if you don't have an injury and just want to strengthen. koollady142 09-09-2006, 18:32 I ruptured mine almost 2 years ago and agree with the gentle exercise. Once out of pot I attended physio twice a week with daily exercises inbetween sessions. Mainly gentle stretching to warm up, then stepping machine, gentle bouncing on aerobics trampoline, light running. Obviously you need to build up strength slowly to avoid further damage, and always warm the tendon up before any exercise. Mine is now fully repaired but even after all this time it is still stiff in the morning. Go steady and work it regularly and it'll get better, slowly and surely. clo_bo 16-09-2006, 16:22 thanks guys, thing is I kickbox so don't really do "light exercise" !!!
