bondgirl2309 31-08-2006, 11:52 AM Hi, anybody knows someone with properties to rent in the Totley area? I'm looking for a 1 bedroom property ideally, but would go for a 2 bed if by some miracle there was a cheap enough one available (unlikely I think although apparently Fairways estate agents had one on offer for £400 a month some time ago - missed that one!) A flat in a converted house would be best, as I'm not too keen on big apartment complexes like West View Lane, where there seems to be a lot of flats to rent.
Have tried all the big agents, no luck so far.
Just in case someone knows of any friends/colleagues/relatives who are landlords!
Thanks a lot.
bondgirl2309 31-08-2006, 11:54 AM Sorry forgot to mention that Bradway is also an option, as could be S8 area (quieter parts of Woodseats, Beauchief , Millhouses and Greenhill). Ta
Tomataheeed 31-08-2006, 01:39 PM Have a look in the post office window at Totley Rise - there is often something there for rent.
I'm not sure which block you are refering to, but the block near Dore station always seems to have a couple of "To Let" boards up. There are also a couple of blocks on Dore road.
Houses often come up actually - I live in Lemont Road and there are probably 7 or 8 houses for rent - one will come up soon, but there seems to be very few flats in the area. However, 30 1 and 2 bed flats are being built in Lemont Road soon - the ( empty) old peoples home is going to be demolished with 9 houses and 30 flats to be built.
bondgirl2309 31-08-2006, 03:08 PM Thanks for this. I'll keep checking the post offices - and keep a lookout for anything else, presumably the houses you mentioned are let through agents, so they'll come up in the adverts! I'm looking for something very soon, so unfortunately won't be able to wait for the new flats - hopefully something will come up.
Tomataheeed 01-09-2006, 02:08 PM No probs.
3 bed houses seem to rent for about 550 to 650, 2 flats are about 475 to 525. The one bedders will be cheaper I'm sure, but I can't remember seeing a one bed place for rent. Good luck.
banania 28-06-2007, 10:55 AM Hi,
Came across your messages on the forum just as we are also searching for accomodation to let in Lemont road or nearby in Totley. Unfortunately we are overseas so can't check the post office window. We are looking for a 2/3 bedroom house for us and our two young children from mid-august/september. Our eldest is starting at Totley Primary in september; don't know what to make of this Ofsted report? It sounds like it has kicked off a lot of discussion.
Any contacts for houses to let please let me know. Thanks
Tomataheeed 28-06-2007, 03:04 PM Hi there, There is a 3 bed house for rent in Lemont Road - £725 I think - with EWB estate agents....bit over-priced in my view. Its been empty for 3 months now so you may be able to knock them down. Check Blundells also, they may have a 2 bed flat for rent.
Tomataheeed 28-06-2007, 03:06 PM As for the ofstead report - would not worry, its a good school. They got criticised for lack of improvement....its a good school with good results and they got a slating for not making it EVEN better. Some criticism is probably valid, but special measures is daft. We will be sending our son there.

Ta for that. It is what i suspected but we only sort of know one family sending their child there so we were not sure what to make of it although reading the report it doesn't sound like it requires special measure. I found that house on Lemont road but it is well over our budget; even if i knock them down i don't think they will go for the price i will offer. There are 2 other houses that have just come up in the area and in the right price target; we just have to see if they are willing to wait until mid-august /september. We shouldn't be homeless for the new school year!
