View Full Version : Women's Rugby (Union)
Skimistress 30-08-2006, 18:56 Sheffield ladies rugby team are on the look out for new players.
Ladies of all shapes, sizes, abilities and fitness levels are welcome, so long as you are over 16 years old.
Playing rugby is a great way to get fit and is a very sociable sport. We are a friendly bunch, so even if you are unsure whether rugby is the sport for you, why not come along and give a training session a try?
Regardless of whether you are an old hand looking for a new club, returning to the game after a break or have never picked up an odd shaped ball before and are looking for a new challenge, come along - the more the merrier!
We train on Thursday nights from 7pm to 8.30pm at Abbeydale sports club. Matches are on Sundays and supporters are always welcome.
Our first training session of the 2006-7 season is on 7 September 2006, with our first friendly match at home on 10 September.
If you are interested, reply to this message or email me at skimistress@hotmail.com

Skimistress 01-10-2006, 18:56 Hi, can't PM at moment as not enough posts, but in reply to Claire, it wouldn't cost anything to come to training or two and see if you like it.
If you end up staying and joining the club, there are subs of £70 for the year (or free if you are a student/ not working)
mild_thing 02-04-2007, 14:54 Hi, do you still train at Abbeydale Sports Club? And is this the session for beginners as well or is there another one geared towards beginners?
Cheers.
karatemma 04-04-2007, 15:47 hello, if you put a list of your fixtures on here i'd quite like to come and watch one of your games.
Emma2024 13-07-2007, 11:49 If you're still interested in playing for Shef Ladies we're starting summer training on July 19th at Millhouses Park at 7. Beginners are welcome, these first sessions will be very casual, a good chance for you to decide whether rugby is the sport for you if you've never played before! If you want any more info please contact me on hia05es@sheffield.ac.uk
redfox35 17-01-2008, 19:33 Hi there,
Are you still looking for players? I haver never played before but would love to learn.
Emma2024 17-01-2008, 21:27 Hiya,
We're always looking for new players :) We train on a Thursday at Abbeydale Sports Ground from 7 until about 9, and you can just show up any training session.
We've also got a match this Sunday, also at Abbeydale, which kicks off at 2, so if you fancy seeing what we're about before coming to train feel free to pop along and watch for a bit,
Hope to see you soon,
Emma
redfox35 22-01-2008, 15:16 Hi Emma
Thanks so much for your reply. Really pleased you are stll looking for players. Sorry haven't replied till now.I have not been on thenet for awhile.
When do you next train at Abbeydale, will it be this Sunday? I would love to come long and see what it is about. Also where abouts is the training place? could you give directions from the town centre.
I noticed you said something about this July, is that something different or is it all the same training for the Sheff ladies?
Sorry for all the questions and thankyou for your time.
Chantelle
Emma2024 22-01-2008, 17:08 Hi Chantelle,
Our next training session is this Thursday at 7pm, at Abbeydale. You can get directions here: http://www.sheffieldrufc.co.uk/directions_page.html
We train on the top pitches, so when you get to the sports club drive up to the top car park. From the top carpark it's a short walk to the pitches, and we're on the left hand pitch.
Wear football/rugby boots if you have them because the pitches can get muddy
The July training was also for Shef Ladies, but we move to Millhouses in the summer because Abbeydale is used for cricket. We're at Abbeydale all the time at the moment.
Hope to see you on Thursday, please let me know if you need any more information.
Emma

Hi,
I've been plaing rugby through uni and now graduating, i'm looking to relocate to sheffield and i need a new club! there don't seem to be many non-uni clubs in Sheffield.
Are you still on the lookout for new players? (original post was from 2006?!) and will there be any pre/ out of season training?
Thanks :)
P.S I usually play hooker/flanker, but would be open to trying new positions if needs be :)
Emma2024 03-07-2009, 10:14 Hi,
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you, I've been in the process of moving house!. We are definately still on the look out for new players. Pre-season training has started, it's on a Thursday at 7pm in Endcliffe Park. I'm not actually playing for the club anymore as I've moved to London, so if you have any other questions Charlotte, the shef ladies captain, will be more helpful than me! Her email is charlfarm@hotmail.com.
Thanks,
Emma
