I had a 1970 mk2 cortina 1600E, the lotus cortina was a great car, i also drove the MK3GT and 2000E, great cars of the day :thumbsup: .

Absolutely :) . They're gorgeous cars. The GXL was the dual circular headlight model, if I remember correctly. I've never owned one myself, but an ex-boyfriend had three, all L reg. The tawny brown metalic colour would have to be my favourite, I think.

ahhhh my first car 1972 ford cortina mk 3 2 ltr GXL, bright red with black vinyl roof, bought it from garage at sicey shops (firth park) in 1987 for £175 with 6 months t+t, and it cost me £300 to insure it :loopy: .
I loved that car :love:
it had rothstyle wheels, and 4 gauges in the center console it was the biz and looked awesome...hehehehe
