An incredible result for the Greek underdogs but a bad result for football.
If all teams start pulling 11 men behind the ball when they lose posession, we are in trouble.........no wonder the Germans tried to sign Greece's manager. Let's not forget that when an opponent got past his man they were usually held back or tripped up.
No doubt other negative teams like England , Germany and Italy will study Greece's tactics with interest.
Colina had a poor game as there were clearly a number of yellow card offences which he let go. He also ignored 2 blatant "holding" offences which were clear penalties to Portugal...he bottled it.
It wasn't just the Greeks that got away with this, so did the Germans and Dutch. EUEFA and the referees have got to kill this off now. At the moment you can handcuff an opponent then throw him on the floor and get away with it.

What would have been best for football would have been for Portugal or the Czechs to score against the Greeks in the first 5 minutes which they were both unlucky not to do.
The upside for England fans is that Sven will have learned that you can be negative by defending from the halfway line and not just the 6 yard box and that it helps to break in numbers when on a rare attack. England would actually become more interesting by copying the Greeks!

The Italians have always had a past history of been negative when in front and they hae often been made to pay for it.

Yes, there is some justice. I love it when they lose.
Who remembers the Lions of Lisbon tearing apart the most negative club side in history?
