hi Guys
I'm on a PC, Windows xp and connect to the t'internet using BT Broadband.

For the past few days when I've logged onto the net I've noticed that on most webpages I go to I get in the bottom left hand corner of the window an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle.

When you click on it it says something like,

An error has occured on the script in this page. As a result this page may not display or function properly

It then goes onto say,

Error: Object expected
Line: 260
URL: the current webpage address

Although this message varies and often says something completely different.

Any ideas how I can stop this?

I've got the BT pop up blocker enabled and Norton Firewall and Anti Virus running.

I haven't downloaded anything recently and after each web session use Ad aware.

Help please as it's seriously interfering with some websites, especially hotmail!

 :( :(

Try this spook.

Open Internet Explorer
Click Tools
Click Internet Options
Click the Advanced Tab
Check "Disable Script Debugging"
Click Apply
Click OK
Restart Internet Explorer

IT's a kak feature that's not needed

If you turn BTs pop-up blocker off does the problem still persist?

Try turning off Norton's ad blocker.

yep done that too - still get the same message.

What I can't understand is I haven't changed anything recently and never had this problem before?

Yahoo have recently updated their site and since then I, and some of my colleagues at work, have been getting Error on Page messages. It's ok on my home computer so the consensus is it's either to do with the firewall or the version of IE.

This makes sense, if as spook says he hasn't changed anything.
The page you gave loaded OK for me using IE ver6.0.something.

The answer would appear to be to upgrade/patch your browser or use a different browser. I can heartily recommend firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/)

Actually the real answer is to get yahoo to fix there broken site but you know...

 that'll be the day!

I'd second switching to Firefox. Apart form the odd site which falls apart when not seen in IE, I much prefer it now!

According to BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3886861.stm) report IE usage has dropped by 1% in the last four weeks.

BT are suggesting that it's a javascript/java implementation problem...

Hi,

Loads OK with IE6 / Windows 98 and Windows ME.

Firefox has it's adherents but I've encountered a few people who've had bad experiences with it - caveat emptor!

What security settings have you got running in Explorer?

Ooh an adherent! I find it useful mainly because of the Web Developer toolbar, which is a godsend!

I couldn't get it to work on my machine(s) until v0.8 - it is still only Beta software so hopefully any bugs are being ironed out.

try resetting the advanced options in IE.

Tools - internet options, advanced , restore defaults

reboot and voila!
