ok I know nothing about this, I have a belkin usb dongle that sends the signal to and from the Router, this been a linksys WGKPC354G-uk, if I go into the settings I can set up a WEP key. this is generated through a codeword . question is where do I put it after that if its supposed to be secure then am going to have to add it to the belkin, is this true.

I dont want to lock myself out of the internet so I dont want to be messing with the Key's and whatnot.

anyone know what to do and how it works looked on the net and the manual and it just states what to do with the router and thats it, am I missing something.

Help please

If you go into your routers software (normally located via an ip address using your browser - check your manual). Then you can set a password for it, choose WPA encryption instead of WEP.

Then save the settings and log out. You will fall of the internet, try to connect again and it should prompt you for the password which you can save.

Don't worry too much about knocking yourself off the internet permanently as your router will have a reset button (although you will need to put in your connection settings again).
