View Full Version : What are your neighbours like?
helenbean 26-08-2006, 20:25 :( Hi just like to know how are you with your next door neighbour's. I live next door to a woman ( who looks like and sounds like the landlady from the cartoon Mr Bean. and her cat is the same ):loopy:
Do you get along okay or not.
Don't know any of my neighbours, the ones on the right have noisy kids  and the ones of the left have drunken arguments in the back garden in the early hours of the morning :loopy:
helenbean 26-08-2006, 20:28 My neighbour is a pain in the backside,
Old_Bloke 26-08-2006, 20:30 I have a friendly retired couple on one side but I prefer the very friendly and welcoming bisexual ladies on the other side ;)
Dream neighbours :hihi:
Jabberwocky 26-08-2006, 20:31 I have very good neighbours thank god. I only ever had one bad neighbour and that was back in the 80s and I know how bad they can make life for people.
My neighbours are great. On one side, I have a friendly couple with two youngish sons, while the house on the other side is a rented property. As such, those neighbours change every year or so though I've been lucky in that they've always been nice. At the moment, it's a young couple with a little baby.
Eddie_shef 27-08-2006, 05:26 I just can't stand flange at all... the texture is awful. I much prefer say a tiramisu although the preparations stages can get to you if you're in a hurry to sort out the dinner party

So thats why you're all broody:hihi:
I live in a block of flats with scrotes and transients and as such I try to be as anonymous as possible. The only neighbours I know anything about are the criminal couple across the hall who have the police banging on their door every other morning.
Don_Kiddick 27-08-2006, 09:04 Our new neighbours are great.
They keep having BBQ's & inviting all the neighbours round. 'Till they moved in no one really knew each other more than on a nodding acquaintance.
The old buzzard who lives at the other side is well beyond her 'best by' date and has soured.
The bird over the road is gorgeous & the rest are very friendly.
There's always a mini marathon on a Wednesday with 2 of the old boys who try to out do each other in who can put the most dustbins away for everyone else
pk014b7161 27-08-2006, 09:26 my mate lived on the hyde park flats, in the pub one night he was talking to a bloke who said in passing how noisy his neighbours are playing music etc my mate said he,s were the same banging at diy & itwas like living next door to barry bucknell ( tv diy man) couple a days later my mate was stood on his veranda when he heard a cough & when he looked it was the bloke he,d been talking to in the pub they both looked at each other in silence.
sparklygem 27-08-2006, 09:29 I dont really know much about my neighbours, other than theyre noisy quite a bit
So thats why you're all broody:hihi: ...
I think you must mean another Hecate :suspect: .
Just thought of a minor flaw with one of the neighbours: his pathological need to always park exactly outside his front door. He could be one space away, but as soon as 'his' space frees up, he's out there inching forward into the gap  .
The old lass next door is deaf and worries that we hear her making a noise all the time, shes a nice old lass, and at the other side its a set of disabled bungelows so they are no probs with them at all, i help them do a little shoppin, garden etc.... all the chavs thiefs scum etc live across the rd...:P
katy1981 27-08-2006, 09:39 my neighbour is a nightmare
we are having some major gardening done at the moment so theres a lot of sand and such in the entry we share with them and she came out to complain so we calmy told her we would clean it all up when we were finished but that wasnt good enough for her she then started to raise her voice and she then started to cal my partner an ugly little b@£&*^d so we just came in and ignored her
then the next day her husband said to my partner as he was getting out of his car about time you sorted that entry out in a rarther aggressive tone
again we ignored there comments
honestly how do people think they are going to solve any problems when they come out with such and aggressive attitude from the start !
also she looks like the crypt keeper :gag:
and her husband looks like worzel gumage with less hair of course :hihi:
joffandanmum 27-08-2006, 09:40 my neighbours are moving to spain
the other side , an old man is moving into a flat soon.
so i may end up with neighbours from hell on both sides:o
pk014b7161 27-08-2006, 09:47 them next door to us had fifteen kids they patted our dog to death
On one side they're pretty cool, no bother, have a chat and all that, and the family on t'other side are all nice apart from the bloke who I think has some 'issues' and is trying to turn the place into Sheffatraz.
fox20thc 27-08-2006, 12:06 Neighbour on one side is a lovely pensioner who keeps herself to herself but always helps out in a crisis.
New neighbour on the other side is 'odd' husband doesnt seem to do much, wife hollars at the children all day like a fishwife and appears to care more for her dogs than her kids.
Oh and the constant hoovering! I was awoken at 7.30 this morning to the sound of the hoover hitting the skirting board on the party wall :(
Oh I forgot, she also avoids any eye contact with me whatsoever, I even tried speaking with her directly (a friendly good morning) to which she buried her chin in her chest and briskly walked away)
Agent Orange 27-08-2006, 12:14 Our neighbours are ok, never really see them that much so it's relatively quiet where we live. At one side, Bob, is a retired teacher who introduced himself and gave us a bottle of wine when we moved in and on the other side we have two nurses who are out at work all hours, although rumour has it one is pregnant so the silence might be short lived lol.
littlestarshine 27-08-2006, 12:38 mine r lovely too!
one side i have a middle aged man with his son who plays out with my son and on the other are 2 brothers who i dont hear a peep from! the rest on the street r nice too,, except i have a lady next door but one who has loads of cats and was complaining that my dog was barking at them wen they came on my garden (he didnt go for them he just barked and licked them) so i said i will stop my dog licking them if u stop them sh*tting on my garden,, didnt have anymore compliants but now i have a kitten and hes starting to go on the back and have a wander she dont like it much and returned him the other day saying he was stopping her cats going out! i was waiting for her to say he was sh*tting on her garden but he still uses the litter tray so i knew if she said that it was kak!
weenireeni 27-08-2006, 12:43 not really met our neighbours tbh! one side is woman with kids, and shes always shouting! doesnt matter what time of day it is!
the other side is young guys who i think are in a houseshare.
not the friendliest of streets!
:)
Nice couple on one side, the bloke got me the job at the company i'm at now.
And he's a fellow Wednesdayite :D
The other side is an old bird, always in the garden 'pruning' and 'watering' stuff
And I think the rest of them are retired or summat, as they're all old.
not the friendliest of streets!
:)
Not Cromwell Street is it? :hihi:
Vrsaljko 27-08-2006, 15:15 Our neighbours are fine. We don't really talk to the ones to the left of us, but the ones to the right are fine and we get on with them very well.
There's some noisy buggers up the street though, their kids are always screaming. They even let their dog out at 6am so it can make loads of noise and wake the street up!
weenireeni 27-08-2006, 15:57 Not Cromwell Street is it? :hihi:
Erm no.............wheres cromwell street???
Our neighbours are fine, old gentleman on one side who keeps himself to himself but loves our dog and cat, doesn't mind them going in his house, feeds them scraps!!!!! and is perfectly pleasant to us. Chap on other side, hardly see him but on the rare occasions that we do pleasantries are exchanged.
overall my neighbours are ok,exept the ones next door,
they work all day on their "van" despite being "on the sick" they even use their disability car for work
when thay are home they make noise all the time, all the other neighbours hate them as they always brag about how much money they make,
sunday is their favourite day for sawing, drilling and shouting despite never actualy doing anything, now they are claiming for "significant home improvments"..all free of charge at the tax payers expense
anyone got a phone number for me ?
neighbours eh ?...who'd have em
JJ..
Mrs Hyde 27-08-2006, 17:31 I have great neighbours, one side they are 89 and 90 at the moment in a home, the other middle aged and always away in thier caravan, (so peaceful) except when my dog barks (yorkie) then im the bad neighbour lol
EstherQoP 27-08-2006, 17:34 I love my neighbours. Although they are a bit 'in your pocket ' at times...its nice to share in the old community togetherness. They look out for me so i can put up with a bit of their gossiping over the garden fence if they are my friends.
Love ya neighbours! If they are a pain - bake them a cake and look at the suprise on their faces.
Draggletail 27-08-2006, 17:49 Don't know any of my neighbours, the ones on the right have noisy kids  and the ones of the left have drunken arguments in the back garden in the early hours of the morning :loopy:
Machon Bank? :D
To be honest, the place we live now is the friendliest street I have lived on so far.
Maybe it's 'cos it's a no through road - I once read that 'closes' tended to be friendlier because you were all in it 'together' and it gave a sense of community.
Our neighbours are cool. One side we have a youngish couple who are both teachers but very nice people. T'other side a nice older bloke who lives there with his son. Mostly people on the road are nice though I find it amusing when some of them have a right go at their kids...makes me chuckle.
There is one guy who was a complete arse. We'd parked the car across the road from his as there was no other room, come back and he says don't park your car there again...he'd just moved in! What a tosser. Generally ignore him mostly but will say hi if he's talking to other neighbours.
My neighbours are fine although I only see one side mostly. Middle aged couple who have a couple of disabled kids to look after. They're friendly enough although I've been told by one of my housemates that the lady can get proper nasty with people if they wind her up. Before I moved in there was a bin lorry moving down our road (people park both sides and it's really narrow especially on the bend at the bottom) and it couldn't get past due to parked cars. The bin guys just sat there beeping the horn waking up everyone on the street at 7.30am and said lady neighbour went storming out and gave them a proper telling off. :hihi: She's always nice with us though. :)
Everyone on the street that I've seen coming in/out of their houses seems friendly though. :)
I own the house next-door and it is a great way of choosing who you live next to you. If they cause me any problems I can kick them out when ever I like !

Now that's thinking
Danny_Boy 28-08-2006, 14:54 Our neighbours are not too bad the lady to the left is old and a bit nutty she likes hoovering at 6.30am and puts here washing out to dry in the rain etc. She has one annoying trait that isnt really her fault but she is stone deaf so when she is watching telly we can have ours on mute and watch the same channel its that loud which is ok in the afternoon but rather annoying at 6am I had to write her a nice little note and she apologised and even bought herself some ear phones bless. The other side keep themselves to themselves pretty much they seem nice enough and we always say hello etc, but it is very villagy (sp) and everyone knows everybodies business which I suppose is a good thing like when we go on holiday they all keep and eye out for anything dodgy and we do the same for them.
brettginger 28-08-2006, 14:57 Mine arent bad..cant complain really
