I've just been to watch a production of Grease at Waltheof School and I have to say that it was absolutely brilliant!
I've NEVER been a fan of this school, even though it's very near to my house I went to a different one.

Tonight though, was a different story. I went wearing a bullet proof vest (ok ok, a bit extreme!) The kids that took part come from all backgrounds and it was great to see them mixing like this (rather than fighting)

Loads of time and effort's gone in to it and it truely has paid off. Has anyone else been to see this? The characters were hilarious and some really gifted singers were amongst them. They're sure to go somewhere in a few years!!

Have to agree an absolutely brilliant performance by the young people of Waltheof. Theres loads of work gone into it and the kids have done fantastically well.

One thing though Chloe, why the snide remarks? You said you enjoyed the show, why not just leave it at that? These kind of negative comments do nothing but reinforce the old crap that has been talked about for years - usually by people who have no idea what the school is really like.

Hang on, ladyovmanor, watch what you're saying!! The 'snide' remarks were not SNIDE at all, they were in jest... I'd just said I'd never been a fan of the school but "tonight was a different matter," so why say they were snide remarks. You're just picking at things now and it's not called for.

What I didn't mention in the post is that for 4 years while I was at a different school, I had to get off the bus at a different stop, 15 minutes away, just so I didn't bump into a gang from Waltheof who bullied me because I went to a different school!!

Don't come giving me the "sun shines out of Waltheof" debate because I get it off my aunty all the time! No, I don't tar all the kids with the same brush, some decent kids go there, but some very nasty kids go there, and I'm not saying some nasty kids didn't go to school with me!!

Rant over.

Thats fair enough Chloe, If your comments were 'In jest'. It just gets to me whenever we here 'Waltheof' its usually negative. I accept you were stating a positive experience but it was the comments interspersed (sp?) with this that got to me.

Im not saying the 'sun shines out of Waltheof' - we have our probs but are getting much much better.

If I mistook your lighthearted comments for snide then I apologise.

They sure did! Let me asure you that I'm not allowed to pull Waltheof down, my aunty works in the canteen and my cousin is a teaching assisstant, as well as my cousin's kids going there... they're turned out nice kids. Infact, one of em was in the show.

Just shows you what a minority can do to a school. Good show by Mr Gardener too!

I work their and sometimes its the worst job in the world, but when we see the kids puttin so much effort in i remeber why i chose to work thier in the first place. Its a really privelidge to work with young people, sometimes its easy to forget that.

Was she in it on Saturday, I looked for her but didn't see her!

I don't blame either of you being proud, I was proud of my cousin!

yeah she was chloe......she was in it every night it was on...
