View Full Version : Dyeing my hair emerald green
BrainThrust 25-08-2006, 00:31 Okay guys, never dyed my hair at home but in the next coupla weeks I wanna do this, I have to bleach it first and then put the green on but knowing me I WILL mess this up.
Anyone got any advice or tips to help me out, hell, if anyone wants to do it that'd be funnier (probably safer too)
Wilf
Crayfish 25-08-2006, 01:45 It'll go yellow, or blue, or dye your whole body. Then I'll say I told you so.
BrainThrust 25-08-2006, 01:48 Thats what i'm worried about, i've had my hair dyed before and it was ok, just not green. I don't mind blue but i don't want yellow.
Care to explain why?
Rubysoho 25-08-2006, 06:43 Take a look here (http://haircrazy.info/index.php?menu_id=1&article=1) for more information on bleaching/colouring hair than you can shake a stick at!:)
NEKRO138 25-08-2006, 08:35 Leave the bleach on for the maximum suggested time. DON'T put bleach over black hair dye, you'll go ginger. Leave the colour on a long time. Put vaseline around your hair line and on your ears so that you can just wipe it off. I have dyed my hair loads of times and I'm still learning. Use African Green. It's a good strong green. Can get it from Rocky Horrors i think.
Blade1983 25-08-2006, 08:39 generally when people dye their own hair at home they are worried that it will turn green - but as that's the colour you're going for you don't really need to worry!
the worst thing that could happen is it could go brown!
beautynbeast 25-08-2006, 08:39 Sent you a pm.
send one back if ya need me
Are you entering a Grotbags lookalike competition?
I can see this going pear shaped (but pretty coloured :hihi: ), pretty much every bleach + Directions hair dye attempt I've seen has been, well, spectacular...
On the off-chance it all goes right, how about this (http://imagedump.geekportal.org/grincopy.jpg) for your avatar?

Why??
BrainThrust 25-08-2006, 09:57 I'm doing it cos I want green hair. Plus it'll help at Freshers when I have to minister over a load of ickle first years, I can see the conversation "Right go see Wilf" "who's Wilf?" "he's the one with green hair"
If i don't have that "Right go see Wilf" "Who's Wilf?" "He's the one... um... he's sat on the student radio desk... sometimes weasrs glasses... round face... when he smiles he looks like a hamster"
It just makes everything so much easier and i don't see anyone else with a darker green hair.

Crayfish 25-08-2006, 10:42 Cool, go for it. There was no reasoning behind my earlier post other than a solid belief in Murphy's law. I did hear that green was difficult to achieve though. Good luck with it!
Oh ok, funnily enough i saw a girl with green hair on top and brown underneath, and she pulled it off. Its not something i would do myself but what ever floats ur boat
I know, when you have done it, post a pic of u. Yay  :)
bananapie 25-08-2006, 14:55 Dye your hair blond then go in a swimming pool.....worked for me once anyway :hihi:
StarSparkle 25-08-2006, 16:45 Try dyeing your hair black? That seems to turn a lot of people's hair green :D
StarSparkle
Sorry Wilf, I know it isn't the response you were looking for, but this has given me a really good laugh.
Please post results piccies (and I personally would love to see what happens to your bathroom and towels too!).
Aw, don't dye your hair green Wilf. You'll look.... mouldy :hihi: . Plus the bleach will ruin your hair. Couldn't you just wear a really loud t-shirt or something for the freshers? You could just be pointed out as 'that bloke over there with the slightly dubious sartorial taste' ;) .
Crayfish 25-08-2006, 20:42 Or go naked, that'd be distinctive
Hair styles do seem to be good identifying markers though admittedly - one of my best friends shaved just half of his head for a while years ago, random people still remember it today
emerald7502 26-08-2006, 11:40 Well I think its a cool idea. Sorry I'm kinda crazy too lol. Just watch out with the bleach. My mum tried to bleach her hair and she chemically melted it, you could like pull it about 20cm more than normal and it broke like chewing gum. So it might be worth doing this professionally, unless someone in the house knows the ropes. Guess what colour I'm going? SILVER. right now I'm NEPAL RICH VIOLET (reddy purple) but I have never seen anyone in my life with silver hair. could turn bad but who care? I can always re-dye it if it stuff up!
You'll look like anime *squee*!!
I thought dyeing hair would be common knowledge by now -------even passe ?
I remember at College in about 1981 , a young lad dyed his hair green and even then , it didn't raise any eyebrows .
