View Full Version : DoH! Moments. We all have them, share here...
Mr Zebra made the girls dinner today and in his infinite wisdom pureed some veg as requested, added some beef stew and had it all ready the second I walked in the door.
I thought this was very efficient and wondered why he had mixed the stew and veg together since we're encouraging the girls to enjoy different flavours seperately, not to worry, it does the same job...
Then I noticed he was feeding Twin 2 some white goo with the veg and stew mix, I had already finished feeding Twin 1 the green goo so asked what it was, had I missed something?
Mr Z explained he had added some baby rice in another part of the dish as the seperate part of the meal...... my suspicious nose led me to taste said white goo and confirmed, as I had suspected that the goo was in fact rice PUDDING not baby rice.
I was all ready to feed Twin 1 the white goo as dessert and correctly so. Twin 2 was eating rice pudding with green veg and stew... how.... erm ..... appetising.
Mr Z saw the word rice... that's all.
Twin 2 did not finish her meal... wonder why?

:hihi:
like it!
i started a thread a few weeks ago about my Doh moment - the accidental melting (honestly, i still don't know how - there was definitely water in the steamer) both my breast pumps, precipitating a panicky 4am search for the electric pump (cost a small fortune, didn't like - medela swing, if anyone cares), sterilizing that (in boiling water, as the sterilizer was covered in melted avent isis), then expressing by hand because the electric pump wasn't effective enough, and finally ending with my husband riding 6 miles on his bmx at 8am so i could have a new pump ready for the next express.
i found that for a few days after, whenever i referred to myself in teh third person, i was calling myself "f***wit" rather than "babychicks", and deservedly so, i think. at least i can laugh about it now!
Oooh, a close call to catastrophe!
If these things are the worst things that happen to either you or your little ones, then I don't think you're doing too badly.
Wouldn't fancy veggies and rice pudding together though- but I do like banana and salted crisp sandwiches.
Not a huge DoH moment but here goes - took washing out of the machine the other day and found a white strange sort of hand-size thing .... hmmm don't know what this is. Further investigation and I realised it was a disposable breast pad (that had been left in the bra - slovenly? moi?) anyway, I was totally amazed at how much water the 'gels' absorbed. :o Won't worry about leaking when i've got thse on!

seriously, they absorb that much? no wonder mine are never anything but perfectly dry, even when my boobs decide the baby needs feeding!
cosywolf 14-09-2006, 12:28 I cut off all his hair!!! Oh no, all that lovely soft hair...
I mean, I meant to cut it a little shorter so that it doesn't stick out near his ears, and people stop looking at him pityingly w("poor girl not very feminine is she, why do you suppose she's dressed as a boy?"), now presumably the hard of listening will merely think I called my boy by a girl's name...fine.
But, oh, his lovely hair!
I use electric clippers on Farmman and Bucketta, and have used them on the cosycub once before, so I can usually be trusted. But this time I got it wrong and used far too short a setting. I nearly cried, Farmman just laughed and said 'all he's missing are a Ben Sherman shirt and bovver boots' (which did NOT help!), my neighbour accused me of making my son look like a skinhead, and my in-laws are none too happy because they're having a big party this weekend with Cosycub there to be shown off. As for cosycub, he'd got used to twiddling his hair to go to sleep...And as for me, he's as gorgeous as ever, of course, but I'm gutted. I feel like I've mutilated him. Next time, it's the barbers for us!
