View Full Version : What is this film?
I remember watching a film a year or so ago. It was after a few pints, as I recall, so the memory of the details is a bit hazy.
It's a thriller/horror about an American girl, a PhD student in psychology. Her friends are killed one by one. She suspects paranormal activity, but no one believes her. The one thing I do remember well is the twist at the end: it turns out that she's actually incarcerated in a mental institution and the film has been an elaborate dream/fantasy conjured up by her disturbed mind. All the characters are people who she sees during her day to day life (her PhD supervisor is really one of her doctors, her friends are fellow patients etc).
Any ideas what the film is?
Gothika?
The one with Halle Berry
Gothika?
The one with Halle Berry
No, it's not Gothika. I think this one pre-dates Gothika.
Halle Berry was in Monster's Ball iirc, could be that.

Was it one called Blink?

No, it isn't that one either. Halle Berry isn't in it. I can't remember who's in it actually; no one particularly famous though.
leg_luvva 23-08-2006, 16:01 Is it Identity??
CaptainSwing 23-08-2006, 16:01 Don't know, though it sounds like whoever made it had been watching The Cabinet of Dr Caligari ... in which case it was perhaps the film called They (http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0283632/) ... ?

No, not that one either, though that's one I have seen.

Yes, that's it. Thanks! I really should watch it sober to see if it's as disturbing as I remember.

Well that depends on if they believ ethe directors complaints of the final bit of Caligari or not.
Apparently he didn't want to put it in but was forced to, weakening the underlying message the film really had in germany's history, and an interesting idea about the buld up to the second world war.
