View Full Version : Which rubbish daytime programme do you admit to watching?
EdnaKrabappe 22-08-2006, 15:45 I have to admit a certain liking for 'Come dine with me' -(it's on now!) channel 4.30. Every school holiday I have a programme that I suddenly find myself purposely turning on and this time it's this one! I love noseying at the participants houses and guessing what they will cook and guessing what the other contestants will be like. I now am official confessing my addiction that will have to end in two weeks time (I'm not being sad and taping it)
So which one is yours?
Off to watch the rest... the clown lady looks like Fern Brittan.
Mines the same dire TV programme.
You can help me out Edna K. Several weeks ago (I think it was in Liverpool) and there was a vegan girl and she cried at the last meal - why? I missed that one so clueless to what happened.
EdnaKrabappe 22-08-2006, 16:12 Mines the same dire TV programme.

Sorry Sam I missed that one too - in fact it was that week that got me addicted! Did she eat some meat? I still want to make the Aubergine curry she made!
Oh Edna - we need to find another saddo to join us who saw that one.
The clip showed her crying with happiness so she'd probably just had a bacon buttie.
steve_sufc 22-08-2006, 16:36 Coach Trip - fantastic show. Love the inevitable arguments between some fat couple from Bolton and 2 gay lads from Brighton.
About 7-8 years ago there was a fly on the wall docco on BBC2 afternoons about some Home Counties village. That was strangely addictive too!

I liked that one too! Don't ever let me become a stay at homer... cos I'd literally turn into Homer!
I love Trisha. It's complete car crash TV. Something the chavs have got top taste in.
Ms Macbeth 22-08-2006, 20:23 Mines the same dire TV programme.

She cried cos one of the blokes decided to turn vegan after listening to her that week. Can't remember his name though. And yes, I'm another watcher of the same show! I've been amazed how civilised its all been, up til now, on the surface at least, but I think there will be fireworks this week between the 2 blonde women, Julie and ??! (mature moments, keep forgetting names)
I like the Jeremy Kyle show.. I love watching that because its fab.
Grim Reaper 22-08-2006, 21:13 I like the Jeremy Kyle show.. I love watching that because its fab.
Me too but I never get to see it because of work but it brightens my day if im off sick - i mean if your going to go on telly please put some nice clothes and makeup on
weenireeni 22-08-2006, 21:15 i love all the car boot, auction and property programmes on bbc 1 from 9 till 12, v addictive!
then after 12 flick over to abc1 for scrubs, less than perfect and 8 simple rules
i was ill last week so watched them all.......now i cant wait till next holiday to stay at home and watch them all!!!
I've been known to watch those DIY and garden programmes presented by Tommy Walsh. And the ones with the blonde woman who paints everything pink and/or plants trees in the living room.
redrobbo 22-08-2006, 21:34 Are you all seriously paying good money for this trash? Watching someone paint everything pink? Watching a vegan crying? And.... I think you are serious.... watching a coach trip?
Please stop it! Your surely can find better things to do with your lives? Free yourselves from this mind numbing nonsense! Dump the telly!
I don't watch it every day, redrobbo :hihi: . It's a little guilty pleasure, like eating at Burger King once in a while when you're used to five star dining.
redrobbo 22-08-2006, 21:55 Burger King! Mmm....do they still do those delicious double cheeseburgers?
Sssh now Hecate - please keep quiet about my guilty pleasure! But you really should ditch the telly - I can't believe you pay a license fee to watch paint dry! :hihi:
...I can't believe you pay a license fee to watch paint dry! :hihi:
I think you're mistaking me for a viewer of 'Big Brother' ;) .

AtticusFinch 23-08-2006, 09:10 I like the Jeremy Kyle show.. I love watching that because its fab.
I like Jeremy Kyle too. I usually watch it before I go to work each morning. Regular viewers can sense in advance which of the guests he is going to turn on. All together now.......
"You're a liar and a thief madam! You should be ashamed of yourself!"
My girlfriend is Chinese and she's fascinated by it because she's never seen anything like it before.
:)
BrainThrust 23-08-2006, 09:14 I have a real soft spot for diagnosis murder.
I only watch it if Columbo isn't on but thats not a bad daytime TV program.
Wilf
House Doctor has to be my worst vice. I try not to turn the telly on during the day if I can help it!
I watch that 'One Hour Makrover' programme, but only because Claire Sweeney presents...
Diagnosis Murder is quite possible one of the best TV programmes ever though.
helenbean 23-08-2006, 12:41  Totally agree it's not bad eh being a Doctor and can solve a crime too:banana: I have a real soft spot for diagnosis murder.

I must admit to watching 'Missing' on about 3pm on Sky Living, its about the FBI and a girl that has visions, and helps solve cases. Totally hooked.

Jeremy Kyle?! WTF?! His show is only marginally better than Trisha! And that's crap as well, but to be honest I hate shows like that anyway, why do families of chavs insist of airing their dirty washing in public on National daytime TV?! Especially when they should be home watching it or out spending their jobseeker's on porn.

Oh come on Rich there must be some trashy awful programme you can't resist?
carmencarter 23-08-2006, 18:26 I absolutely despise Jeremy Kyle, he is a patronising mr Know-it-All who doesn't give a toss about the people who go on the programme and only uses them as excuses to show off!
Well, I do mean it, seriously, but why o why can't I stop watching it?????
I guess we all like to wind ourselves up.
Apparently Top Gear is the kind of show you must watch if you want to be appalled and see someone you love to hate.
Oh come on Rich there must be some trashy awful programme you can't resist?
Well I suppose I do watch Neighbours... But only cos I'm in love with Steph Hoyland, Susan Kinski and Lyn Scully
60 minute makeover yey lmao
the shame
pinkdolphin3 24-08-2006, 08:48 don't think i'm sad here but the vegan lady converted one of the other diners to vegan...made her cry...thought he was going to propose
I admit to sitting and watching coronation st, emmerdale and eastenders.. I believe coronation street was on later to!
All that cos i couldnt be bothered to move!
Soaps are crap! Fact.
*Twinkle* 24-08-2006, 09:09 Judge Judy....
Its erm... educational! :D

Noooo! They're performing a valuable public service! In the words of Loyd Grossman (presenter of long lost daytime TV gem Through the Keyhole): "Lets look at the evidence so farrrrr...."
a. How else would pensioners in Hampstead and Altrincham ever know that people existed who'd never heard of Gymkhanas, the Golf Club and Pimms on the lawn?
b. Even if you're not exactly posh yourself, and are borderline white trash (that would be me then), then you get to feel just a bit smug watching Trisha!
c. You can go down Jack Fultons for a bag of offal pieces (with garlic) at 10.30am and it'll be nice and quiet.
d. It's Bl**dy funny.

I got rid of my telly years ago, so haven't seen Coronation Street in ages. I was just wondering though, can you tell me *Ryan* if they've dug Ena Sharples from out of the rubble of the collapsed viaduct yet? :hihi:
NB. Anyone younger than 92 will not recall this episode!
NEKRO138 24-08-2006, 13:14 I liked the Paul O Grady show. Gone now. Replaced by TWO episodes of Price is right, which I like, apart from Joe Pubesqueeler

I prefer the repeats of PIR with Bruce Forsyth on Challenge on Sky to be honest, not for Bruce himself, but for the HOT "prize girls" That tall blonde one's reyt nice! And the dark haired one, mmm hmm I would ;)

Pauline BHG 25-08-2006, 23:21 60 Minute makeover !!! It's the BEST !!! I want them to do my flat. im so impressed by the makeovers hahaha !! but then i like most shows where uyou get to nosey in folks houses. heres one (though not a daytime show...) Location location location - fabulous !
pete_jim 26-08-2006, 15:16 At work but addicted to Judge Judy when I get home!!
heartshaped1 26-08-2006, 16:31 Oh, the shame. I think I can top all of these by admitting to getting hooked on 'Our New Life in Everwood' - ITV 2-3 daily. Sigh. The ridiculous thing is that the programme seems to be filmed in the dark so I can never see what's going on anyway.
Please, someone tell me I'm not the only one. Although it wouldn't surprise me. Dunno what I'm going to do when my maternity leave comes to an end. Am I sad enough to tape it? :help:
EdnaKrabappe 12-09-2007, 19:47 Have to lush over the fact 'Come dine with me' is back. I just  this programme. China made me laugh out loud tonight how she'd passed out in some complete strangers house before pudding. They were all sozzled in the taxi.
I'm loving channel 4 +1 as well as i generally get in just after 6, have an hour off before doing any work and this just falls as i'm eating my tea usually. So tonight i could lush over their banana flans and asparagus tips as i'm eating my cheese on toast. It did inspire me to add piccalli though so perhaps it's having some affect on my culinary capabilities.
Beautiful house in Clifton as well.
EdnaKrabappe 04-01-2008, 16:51 :hihi:i do worry about my duty to promote this programe. Come dine with me - week final on shortly. Hope the younger girl lamps the cantakerous older one tonight.
I have to admit to watching Jeremy Kyle too - I hate him as he's so smugh and know-it-all, but I can't help watching!
Homes under the Hammer is addictive viewing. Sometimes catch it on my break at work.
pinklady 04-01-2008, 18:23 loose women ........ I do enjoy it
my most shameful viewing ever? ......... sunset beach, yes i now, it was terrible

billieoh 05-01-2008, 14:56 I must admit to liking Loose Women, they just say what the rest of us are thinking.
Does Everyone Loves Raymond count as it's more breakfast tv? After the repeats of Frasier around 9am it's a tv wasteland (unless Coach Trip is on) until 6pm.

magicaljen 06-01-2008, 10:11 Just thought of another genius daytime tv program....Beat the burglar!! :D Don't think it on anymore though...:(
Grim Reaper 06-01-2008, 10:41 Just thought of another genius daytime tv program....Beat the burglar!! :D Don't think it on anymore though...:(
I saw that a couple of times, genius.
I watch the old episodes of The Bill on UK Gold at 9 AM on weekdays.
Meh, it's better than watching crappy GMTV IMO.

That's what I was going to say!! I miss daytime TV :( Might take a day off one day just to fester and watch it...and both Neighbours!
I always get up early for work to watch UKTV Gold Neighbours repeats at 7am every day :P

I tape them on Sky Plus.. I have a load of unwatched ones from while I've been at my Parents' over Christmas but had to delete most of them, as I'm just never in long enough to spend time catching up on taped stuff.
pippadoll 06-01-2008, 16:20 I love Come Dine with Me, although there seems to be a lot of repeats lately. Also love Masterchef with real people. If I am off work, I really enjoy Homes Under The Hammer. I don't mind Cash in The Attic but I can't stand Car Booty...aaagggghhhhhhhhhhhh. Maybe it is because it is the third or fourth programme of the morning.
I have never watched naughty women and I haven't watched this morning since Richard and Judy left.
I have seen a couple of Jeremy Kyle programmes, but I feel it is too depressing that people live these lives. If they spent more time on their careers and families as they do arguing we may live in a better country.
Oh, beat the burgler; I loved that. Wasn't that an evening programme?

Homes Under The Hammer, when I can get a look in, with my three year old who is constantly wanting to watch Jim Jam and Sunny, Pocoyo, Engie Benjy etc.
What is that tune that is played nearly all the way through Homes Under The Hammer. I think it's the bits where the Estate agents come waltzing down the road!.

I always think its going to be Mr Hotstuff, who do you think you are but I don't think it is.
It would hardly be fitting anyway....:D
NEKRO138 10-01-2008, 10:35 I must also confess to being a Come Dine With Me fan.
The one in Ayr was the best, with the bloke called Forbes who cooked the pigs trotters.
The narrator has me in stitches sometimes too.

Just googled and found out it's Express Yourself by Charles Wright & The Watts 103rd St. Rhythm Band. I think it's is a re-done version of this (by slightly changing the melody / tune the BBC don't have to pay the record company the royalty, but it's obvious which tune they are ripping-off).

Bladesman 11-01-2008, 13:13 I must admit I sometimes watch Jeremy "I like the sound of my own voice" Kyle and also Trisha.
