Has anyone got any good suggestions for somewhere to walk the dog which the kids will like too? I usually go to longley park or wharncliffe woods. I let our dog off the lead when there is no-one around but put her back on if someone with a dog appears (she gets protective when the kids are there she doesn't attack the dogs but you never know)! I'm getting bored of the same walks and so are the kids! There are usually too many dogs about in Hillsborough park.
Any suggestions? i live in S5 but have transport.

is that the one that runs behind the caravan storage right down to winn gardens? I have seen a pathway down there by the river / stream whatever but not an entrance! but then I haven't looked for one!

What about through Concord Park and into Woolley Woods? My dogs have always loved the woods (wish I could say the same about the kids though!).
There's also a lovely walk through Redmires but it's a bit of a trek getting there.

The best place i have ever been is Rivelin. There is lots for kids to do, outdoor paddling pool, lovely big posh cafe, ice-cream van, swings and slides, a lovely walk all alongside the river where the dogs are allowed off their lead and can run in the river!
It is such a beautiful place and I have never had so much fun than when we take the dogs and kids there.

There's either an entrance at the side of the river in Oughtibridge or across the road from the middlewood tavern pub

Thanx for that. Always wanted to have a wander down there but not alone, apperently someone got attacked there so i'll take company!!
I like rivelin too but the parking down there is awful and there are a few too many dogs, i'd be taking her on and off the lead every five minutes!! Thanks for all the suggestions!

Wadsley common is great for dogs, the kids would enjoy climbing on the rocks, the best entrance is on long lane, near the golf course, bottom car park is o.k, but the first hundred yards is very dog pooey sometimes.
