AFK PROMOTIONS proudly present a night of Full Contact kickboxing.

Park and Gardners Social Club
Cricket Inn Road Sheffield

(Near Hyde Park flats which is visible at the park square roundabout, near the M1 motorway)
DATE: Friday the 15th of september 2006.

Ticket Prices:
£15 (standing) , £25 (ringside) , £30 (Stage seats) , £40 per head (VIP seats).

Kick Off:
Doors open 7pm
First Bout 730pm SHARP!

AFK promotions promises an action packed night of full contact kickboxing with bouts fought under Standard American full contact as well as Oriental Rules (similar rules to the K-1).

Many Sheffield Forum Members will be either fighting on the event or will be in attendance.

The event promises an exciting fight card featuring fighters from all of sheffield's clubs.

Brief Explanation of the rules:

All fighters will fight in the boxing ring and will fight with 10 Ounce Boxing Gloves. If a fighter is knocked down the referee will count to 10. A count of 10= Knockout & the fight will be stopped. 3 Knockdowns in one round and the fight will be stopped.


FULL CONTACT= Fighters wear martial arts trousers and padded kickboots.
In full contact , fighters will be allowed to Box and Kick to the body and head only.

ORIENTAL RULES (Which will be referred to as KICKBOXING Rules) = Fighters will wear Thai shorts/Boxing Shorts or MMA shorts in this discipline. Novices and Amateur fighters may wear the Leather shin and instep protectors (subject to both camps agreement).

In Oriental Rules, fighters will be allowed to kick to the thighs, to the body and to the head. Limited Clinching and use of the Knees is also allowed.

Bouts 2 and 4 are now being changed.

ROKARD gym have pulled both their fighters out for whatever reason.

Daniel Renshaw is fighting Lankyguy (a sheffield forumer) from Rik Veevers Mavericks club.

Oliver Woolard has also been ill recently , so that bout is now off the cards.

Daniel Renshaw from Black Dragons has been withdrawn by his coach. They are saving themselves for the November event.

So far so good, only got 11 adult bouts matched and confirmed and 2 kiddies bouts. Possibility of 1 or 2 more adult bouts to match up too.

One extra fight has been added to the bill.

KARATE Vs TAEKWONDO Under FULL CONTACT RULES!!!

Both are big guys (between 87-90kg) , both can kick and both hold black belts in their respective martial arts.


To all intents and purposes, the Show is more or less sold out. The only way to get tickets now is through one of the fighters if they have any spare.

Ring me on 07775 914155 and I will ask one of the fighters to be generous enough to save one for you (if they have any left!!!).

Yes thats what I thought. Crazy isnt it. Sadly it is also true and now I have lost that particular fight from the card (no real loss as there are still 15 fights on the show).
What has really annoyed me is that now the fighter concerned has to fight Full contact (kicks above the waist) as opposed to kickboxing (low kicks and knees).

Now isnt it a shame that Chinny Lynne doesnt know the other camp. Im sure his taunting would have got the fight back on.

Why do you keep having people pull out of fighting this 1 guy, do they not get told who they're fighting when the fight is initially arranged or something. I hate the mentality of some so called 'professionals' that think it fair or even acceptable to take a fight and then just decide they're not bothered after all, do they not know how much effort goes into a fight?

Later on I ring the club (yes thats right they dont ring me i ring THEM) and they say "we dont want our guy to fight ***" I ask why , they say " hes too good" I say "but hes a novice" they reply " we saw his picture on your website".
Now I have no desire to mention his name any further as I do not want to sabotage his chance of getting matched. Initially when he was matched I had to keep it quiet from most of our OWN gym to make sure that it wasnt sabotaged!!!

Now regarding pulling out of fights, I rang one trainer up yesterday about a particular fighters weight, I asked him if he can make the 84KG limit. THe trainer said " I dont know I'll wait for him to get back in the gym" turns out the fighter had been "training at home" !!!

To quote a vernacular ,... "WTF!!!" training at home? What kind of BS is this? Now his opponent had been training his proverbial ****** off and the other guy hadnt even made it to the gym???

Now one trainer actually said " but i dont want my guys to fight any of yours"
there you go , someone else trying to fiddle with the card and not wanting to fight the home team.

He still insisted that he was a brown belt in Wu Shu Kwan and that he didnt want to be in the beginners class. I told him he was going to beginners class regardless. He didnt like it and left.Saw him two weeks later in a boxing gym not knowing wether he was orthodox or southpaw :P

Same thing would probably happen to you as Ive seen you fight.
Im not making enemies with other coaches by broad casting your name and camp. Also you KNOW which fighter im talking about. Hes a novice but you still insisted that hes "too good" (WTF???)
