View Full Version : An apology to DS owners!
I repent my sins - we have now got a DS at home along with the PSP.
The PSP is at this very moment, gathering dust compared to the DS which is getting used at the moment nearly hourly.
The games are more imaginative on the DS- the likes on Animal Crossing, Trauma Center and even the brain games as well have me hooked and nothing has quite captured my imagination on the PSP to compete with that.
So, I repent my sins - I apologise.
The DS is in my opinion, better than the PSP for quality games at the minute!
HOWEVER I still wont touch Mario
It don't take much to convert you does it hun ;)
Completed the mario game on me sisters DS. But i do like the psp 4 various reason's. But theres 1 gud thing about the psp thats better then the ds u can watch movies on the go.

I hate that game I seriously do :hihi:
I'd rather poke flaming hot pins into my eyes than play with that fat plumber.
PSP is ace though mate for putting video's onto it- I've got about 5 on mine now and the quality is almost DVD quality as well.. magic!

Ads has one of them an all
I'm sorry but I hate Sony, so I'll never own a PSP...
I just won Pokemon Link on eBay as well for £15 + £2.99 postage (recorded delivery though, and it's sod's law I either won't be in or be in and not hear the postie knocking when it comes :( )
Theres nothin wrong with sony stuff they come out with some good consols and the best game they ever brought out on playstation was final fantasy.
Animal Crossing is as addictive as crack. Get ready to kiss your life goodbye.
Because it's real time, I find myself on a random evening thinking I have to be playing AC, because someoner was supposed to be coming to my house at six and I have to be in. It quickly takes over your free time.

My daughter loves that game :)
Banjo Griner 21-08-2006, 09:42 Good to see Angelus finally coming round to the joys of Nintendo - you say no Mario, but mate, surely that doesn't include the awesome Mario Kart DS? If anyone wants a race, PM me and we can swap friend codes. In fact, same goes for Animal Crossing... how about a big SF get-together in someone's town? I've only had it for a week, but my town's pretty cool already.
I honestly can't stop playing it. I have a mortgage to pay off, I'm trying to fill up my museum with exhibits and talk about the people in my village sometimes as if they were my friends.
It's worrying.
Banjo Griner 21-08-2006, 09:50 Have you been online yet? That's where the fun begins, because your message-in-a-bottles, constellations, unwanted characters, message boards, etc can all be 'unknowingly' transferred to other player's towns... that cat who wanders round with no face as well - if you paint her a new face it can end up on the other side of the globe. Add to all this the fruit-swapping and growing, a bit of inter-town turnip-trading and it all kicks off like some kind of alternate reality.
Oh yeah, characters who ask for new greetings and catchphrases - the potential to make Nintendo characters swear...
Yeah, I've played it online a few times. I've had people leave my town and move to my mates village a few times, and he's been round to visit a few times.
The little so and so keeps chopping down my trees when I invite him round, and leaving messages on my board that I'd rather he didn't, so I'm thinking of not letting him round for a while.
I shouldn't be this addicted to the game.
I'm sorry but I hate Sony, so I'll never own a PSP...
How can you hate such a big corporation that makes a wide range of things??
seems strange to me.
so no games consoles, tv's, dvd players, stereo's....just cos they are sony? (one of the most reliable brands across the board in my mind)

Mate that's shocking behaviour - I've not witnessed any virtual vandalism yet, but it does seem to go off now and then. The coppers at the gate should be given American nightsticks for dishing out some punishment.
It's quite bizarre how addictive this game is - it's also impossible to explain why it's so good to someone who doesn't play it: 'yeah, you pick fruit and that', 'oh wow, there's a firework display on tonight'...
We had a bug off on sunday- I won first place for catching a 281mm Birdwing Butterfly.
This is the kind of things that I actully say to people in real life, and those who don't play look at me like I'm mad.
For me the appeal is the fact that there is no point to it- what you do determines the story in a way. Pay off your mortgage, then just chat to your neighbours, go fishing if you like, catch bugs, decorate your house. It's pointless in a sense, but that's what makes it great.
Banjo Griner 21-08-2006, 11:50 Good work - I got a 261mm birdwing... heheh. I had a couple of visitors yesterday and traded some fruits with them - one of them even brought me a present! I suppose this kind of thing (along with the way your town grows and characters evolve) is what appeals - makes a change from the usual zombie-fest blast-a-thons I go for.
Have you ever played Harvest Moon? It's a farming simulator, where your character inherits a run down farm and you have the task of cleaning up the place and turning it into an operational farm.
I've played in on the SNES, GB and Gamecube, and there's a DS version coming out soon. September release for the US version, not sure about UK.
If you like AC:WW then you'll probably like HM. You can get various crops, which are all seasonal, raise chickens and cows and extend your house. Eventually you can marry one of the girls from your village and she moves into your farm with you. It's great. I can't wait for the DS version.
Banjo Griner 21-08-2006, 12:18 Yeah I thought about getting it for the GBA a couple of years back - it does look like typical Nintendo magic. The next DS game on my list will probably be Starfox - it looks very tasty and it's got Wi-Fi action, so it'd be rude not to.
After that, I'll probably grab the Opera browser so I can at least look like I'm doing some work.
EDIT: hoba, you need to empty your PM inbox.
Harvest Moon will have to be purchased as soon as it comes out, and if there's a Starfox game then I'll have to get that too. I've not played that since the N64 version.
Trauma Centre: 2nd Opinion is coming out on the Wii! How cool does that sound?
Other than that, I want Lost Magic and Castlevania as well.
Pm inbox has been cleared as well now.
Edit: it looks as though the Opera Browser will retail for somewhere between £25 and £35, despending upon what you read. Not sure I want to pay that much.
Banjo Griner 21-08-2006, 12:53 Starfox Command has been likened to the N64 version, with graphical similarities to the original SNES game (but obviously BETTER graphics) - you can plot your route with the stylus, then set about your blasting on the top screen. There's a few different ships to the Arwing, and a few different modes, so it should be a keeper. I think N learnt from the errors of 'Adventures' or 'Dinosaur Planet' or whatever the hell they were.
Check out the vids on the official site (http://www.starfoxcommand.com/).
Wasn't sure if I could get on that site from work, but I can and checked them out.
You're right in that it looks like they've gone back more to the N64 style, which is good as that was my favourite version. And multiple targeting from Falco's ship too. Cool.
No sign of a release date yet but I bet it's ages away if the full site isn't up yet. :(
Banjo Griner 21-08-2006, 14:06 US release date is 29/08/06 (or 08/29/06 if you're American) so I reckon we'll be a month or so behind that - although there's no reason to not import the US version (http://global.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/section-games/code-c/version-all/did-10357/fil-52/pid-1004432579/)...
Pre-order now, with free international shipping... that is so tempting.
Just need the cash for it now...

Yeah it's tempting, but alas I've spent too much money on DS games lately (bought 3 on eBay in the last month plus bought one via someone on the forum yesterday) so I need to cut back on spending a bit, at least till Lego Star Wars 2 on Xbox 360 comes out on 11th of September, already pre-ordered it from GAME.

You'll get it cheaper online
Banjo Griner 22-08-2006, 10:57 What I don't get is why you'd want a machine like Xbox to play a game like Lego Star Wars...
I'd be saving up for Halo 3...
The original Star Wars Lego was great. Maybe a rental rather than a purchase for me, but it was really good fun.
I'd say it's the best Star Wars game I've played, but then I don't even like SW really.
Banjo Griner 22-08-2006, 11:24 Yeah I heard it was good - not my thing though. There haven't been that many decent Star Wars games, but for me Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader for the GameCube is pure essence of Star Wars. There's no lightsabers, but the X-Wing vs Tie-Fighter battles just make you feel like you're there in the original trilogy.
Oh yeah, and bringing down an AT-AT with your Snowspeeder cable is teh force.
