I went to a couple of car audio places the other month when I was looking for someone to fit my head unit and cd changer in my car and found most places charge £40-60 to do it... Pretty steep!

So I went down to Halfords and asked the guy in the shop what I needed, he helped me pick all the stuff out and even fitted the adapter I needed to the leads in my car outside! Ended up looking just as good as the 'proper' installation, was very easy to do (only took another half hour after getting home from Halfords) and only cost £20. It's worth a go cos if I can do it anyone can! ;-)

The plcae on Abbeydale road, Technicar have always been very good. I always use them, they are very quick too.

source sounds near Chapeltown is really good, just for a head unit would cost you about £15.

I believe Technicar may offer a free fitting service if you buy from them. However, I found their products to be a little on the high side. I bought my stereo online from a place called Edworthys and paid for fitting through them. A sub-contracter came out on a Sunday and fitted the stereo. It worked out much cheaper than anywhere else including the installation charge. The fitting is pretty much common sense unless you require special wiring like I did.
