It appears I have got to go to Chesterfield in the near future. As I anticipate my objectives are more likely to be achieved early evening I'd like to know whether there are any nice, scenic walks within reasonable proximity so that I can make good use of my rail/bus fares etc.

Thanks

Hello! Do you mean Hollingwood?

I used to live around there and cant say I ever found anything particularly scenic about it!

However, there is a park as you pass on the main road through to Staveley. I think there may be a small lake there too - if I remember correctly!

I have been told that a walk along the canal is quite pleasant too.

Yes that's precisely where I meant. I think the best time for me to go would probably be about 6-7pm which would leave me the whole day free to take a day off and go for a walk to somewhere fairly accessible by public transport to Hollingwood.
