Me and my bloke decided we'd like to go away for a weekend. We both have a few days off together in August and need somewhere nice to go. Can be romantic, think we both want to chill out for a while away from here!
Any ideas anyone?

Hang on, for a minute there I thought you metioned York and Peterborough in the same sentence.

Go to The Isle of Arran off the west coast of Scotland, it's the most beautiful place. If you like fresh air, walks, deer, seals, un-touched countryside, midgies (!) then you'll love it. It depends what you enjoy doing to relax though I guess. Walking up a mountain isn't everyone's idea of chilling out!

York is really nice! historical & romantic - abit like me. :)

Personally, I'd take a trip to the South of France - can't go wrong there.

Edinburgh impressed me when we went two years ago. Only four hours away and was a nice change.

Also, was in Cardiff a couple of months ago and that place is also worth a look.

Brugges in Belgium is beautiful, you can drive there in about 8 hours not including ferry.

Plane to Venice, Florence or Rome. Ryan Air and Easy Jet do very cheap flights. Venice does actually live up to it's hype. If you ever get the chance you should make the effort to go there, St Marks is awesome

How about amsterdam? Just been over there, really cool. I flew from Liverpool and its only about an hour flight.

Its not all about drugs, red light district and stag do's. I found it easy to avoid them all (or find them all if you so wish). Plenty of culture - Van Gogh museum, Rijks Museum etc. Or you could just take a picnic and chill out in Vondelpark.

If you fancy somewhere a bit different to stop try Hotel Winston. It has rooms that have been decorated by local artists, and some by Smirnoff, Stolichnaya, Heineken, Durex and others.

Drive to Liverpool, leave the car in the dock and catch the ferry to Dublin.
Theres a bar and restaurant on the ferry, just a 4 hour crossing and your there.
