Hi. A friend of mine who's currently unemployed has been trying desperately to get the jobcentre to send him on a forklift driving course so he can get a job in a warehouse but so far he's had no luck. Does anyone know of anywhere that does forklift training that's funded by the jobcentre (he's skint so he can't afford to pay for it himself!)

All I know is the courses for counter balance are expensive, possibly in the £1000,s.

It's that catch 22 cos I get offered full funding for people I employ to be fully trained and tested for there licence. If you are working you can get funding so there must be somewhere that offers for free

TAL training taught me about a year ago, Maltravers Road S2. Was a 3 day course, paid for by my employer so not sure how much it was. would recommend them though.

If you look in The Star they regularly advertise free forklift training for the unemployed, this is done through a company called Hargreaves on Manor Lane.
You do however, as part of their claim for goverment funding first do a course in English and Maths and take an exam.
Only then can you do the F/L course.
This is done so that you can appear as a government statistic as having been in further adult education.

I too learned it with TAL Training, and got Counterbalance and Reach licences. however I have had NO LUCK with finding a job for OVER TWO YEARS now, in spite of HUNDREDS of applications.
If I was young enough I'd join the Army and ign up for the Royal Logistical Corps, but failing that opportunity, does anyone know of any work currently available for Reach or Counterbalance with Warehouse/Order Picking Experience?:help:
