Tut tut, terrible attitude, you really ought to try going by bus sometime you don't know what your missing

1) expensive fares = which go up frequently during the year
2) waiting for ages in the rain at the bus stop
3) a 10 munite journey in a car, can take up to 2 hours on a bus
4) the litter
5) plus many other things, that you won't experience in your car

And thats why I have a car!!!

Fair point, i had to use a bus at the beginning of the year when some uninsured muppet wrote mine off!!!, it was a traumatic experience to say the least, surly bus drivers, long waits, dirty bus, oh and more expensive per mile than a car, even when you factor in cost per mileper galon of fuel, wear and tear, and tax and insurance costs.
How any goverment can see this as an alternative to a car is beyond my comprehension, my 10 min car journy took 55 mins by bus from me leaving the door to arriving where i wanted to go

Anyone see that "Britain's Commuting Nightmare" programme on C4 last night?
The jist of it was that, if governments are serious about reducing rush-hour congestion, they need to implement road pricing to force people out of their cars and use the revenue to give us reliable and affordable public transport.

I bet if it ever happens (don't hold your breath whilever Labour are in charge), selfish people like DeepcarOwl won't be feeling so smug.......

I really do feel for those who have to rely on public transport, its not a nice experience, but if thats all that is available, be thankfull, 100 years ago, we had nothing like this, so really we should all be thankfull, that we have this form of transport, so should not complain really

I catch the bus daily in Sheffield. The journey home from Meadowhall is terrible. Almost every day they have to turn people away as it is too full.

I used to live in Huddersfield and in comparison they miles ahead. Virtually all the buses are brand new, they are comfortable, have very little grafitti and are pretty much always punctual. Oh, and they're cheaper!

Sorry people, didn't mean to offend anyone who has no other choice than the bus, I am fortunate enough to be able to afford a car, plus there is no bus (Or any other public transport) to where I work and thankfully I don't have to get buses anymore unless I am going drinking in town etc.
I would gratefully get the bus (57 from Deepcar into town) more often if it was more reliable, cleaner, reasonably priced and the stop wasn't nearly a mile from my house. Since that day isn't likely to come, next time I go into town it will be in the car.

If anyone was offended by your innocent comments, then they need to get a sense of humour

The truth is that your last paragraph .... I would be greatfull.... etc illustrates by people don't use public transport

As well as smelly fellow passengers.

The congestion charging , or charging by the mile, is truely frightening, for anyone who earns less than about 40k per annum (after tax).

Suppose everyone is priced out of their cars and is forced to use the bus, do people believe that bus fares will stay low ? and that the revenue taken will be spent on cheap efficient Public Transport

if you believe that then you believe in Father Christmas

does the goverment believe that if they force everyone out of their cars, the public transport system could cope, i hope not!!!
