:hihi:
Banjo Griner 18-08-2006, 15:16 It can't be as cult as the awesome Monkey on a Bicycle (http://www.tribuneindia.com/2002/20020321/wld5.jpg) - what a movie that was.
I heard the snakes were merely an analogy for the evil inherent in man, and that the whole film symbolically makes a statement about the apocalyptic nightmare of today's political situation. But reckon that's a load of bo**ox.
I don't like Snakes or horror films anyway, so I won't be seeing this.
I have just been to see Nacho Libre though, the wrestling film with Jack Black, decent film, bit yawn inducingly boring in places, more one to get out of the video shop than see on the big screen really.
jamie-hull 18-08-2006, 16:30 no it looks poo hu would make a film about snakes on planes he must have a screw loose
tslogf74 18-08-2006, 18:27 What's it about?
What's it about?
Somehow, a load of dangerous killer Snakes get on an Aeroplane and start scaring the bejeezus out of everybody...
It must be REALLY scary cos the BBFC have rated it 15, and to be honest they're a bit old fashioned when it comes to ratings, they gave the original Gremlins a 15 rating in 1984, and a PG would've been ample IMO, I was only 8 when I sneaked it out of the video shop, and wasn't scared a bit of it.

I believe the 15 was given to it because of a line Samual Jackson says which was put in due to 'fan pressure'. The film was never going to be made, but when word got out in the Internet about a film called 'Snakes on a Plane', the film bosses couldn't resist.
Apparently, listening to Mark Comode (sp) on 5 Live, it is done with tongue firmly in cheek, and is not really that scary unless you are scared of snakes that is.

Not quite true. The film was being made when fans found out. The resulting internet gossip and fan-pages dedicated to the film resulted in the studio throwing a bit more money at it, getting some new scenes added, and the dialogue change. The new dialogue additions were partly from a fan's mock trailer tagline (Get these motherf***in' snakes off my motherfu**in' plane), but also due to the film being so anticipated that they could now go for a higher rating (it was originally planned for a PG13 in the US). It went from being a potential 'straight to dvd' to a box office grab.
Can't wait to see it myself.

Which I am, scared of snakes that is... Ever since some idiot at School put a big massive Python on my shoulder that some "expert" had brought into Assembly...

lol and there's the sequel... Snakes in a School
If Samuel L Jackson's in it, and the good Dr Kermode approves, it can't be all bad.

Thanks for correcting me. I was only half listening at the time.

No probs. Half listening is more than I ever do when Kermode is droning on (despise the guy)! I get my info from the film press.
Hi,
I'm new here so please be nice.....i havnt seen this film yet but i have saw trailers for it on TV looks to scary to me..

fishvixuk 19-08-2006, 08:28 The name of it alone sounds REALLY cheesy that it must be watchable. I have watched films called Cyborg cop and Cyborg cop 2 from 99p store and they where so rubbish that I could not help but watch them (Only once mind you). This is a film that you will probably only watch once, find it really cheesy but can not stop yourself watching it. I can not wait to see it.
Arachnophobia, killer spiders in a town, what could be scary about that, but people who don't like spiders (alot of people) will watch it just to see what it was like, and how they could possibly make it scary, so the same goes for SNAKES ON A PLANE.

Agreed, I saw the trailer for it when I went to see Nacho Libre yesterday, and just that was enough to put me off... I'm not fond of snakes you see... Especially not big nasty killer Cobras..
Grim Reaper 20-08-2006, 12:51 Personally im one of those people who will have to watch it at some point as I love all cheesy films especially really bad horror
And the title INSPIRED :hihi:

I'm going to see it tomorrow....I really can't wait! :P
BasilRathbon 21-08-2006, 11:54 I'm waiting for the sequel; "Otters On A Pedalo".....
I'm waiting for the sequel; "Otters On A Pedalo".....
or "Goats on a boat"
AtticusFinch 21-08-2006, 12:25 I watched this yesterday and liked it a lot. From the title I was expecting something ridiculously tongue-in-cheek and tacky, but it wasn't at all. It was actually a good film with some great jumps and some very funny lines too. If this is the result of making films with extensive net feedback then I'm all for it. :D
Banjo Griner 21-08-2006, 12:28 The British attempt is called 'Ants in a Robin Reliant' and stars Rhys Ifans and a bloke who was in Eastenders once.
BasilRathbon 21-08-2006, 14:15 "Shrews On A Canoe"?
Banjo Griner 21-08-2006, 14:18 'Wasps Around a Moped'
'Chickens on a Skateboard'
'Frogs in a Hot-Air Balloon'
BasilRathbon 21-08-2006, 14:22 "Get these motherf**in chickens off this motherf***in skateboard!"
Doesn't quite work, does it?
Banjo Griner 21-08-2006, 14:25 If it were to come from the mighty Sam Jackson, it just might...
Well how about 'Monkeys on a Spacehopper' then? (yes I'm running out of ideas)
Banjo Griner 21-08-2006, 14:35 OK last attempt, how about some of these (http://www.naiveamoeba.co.uk/gallery/still_images/squitten.jpg) on one of these (http://dept.physics.upenn.edu/courses/gladney/phys1/lectures/lecture3/images/flying_car.gif)?
Solomon1 21-08-2006, 14:37 What's it about?
ha ha! snorted my tea over this.......:D
Yodameister 21-08-2006, 16:37 can someone explain to me what is so extraordinary about the name snakes on a plane and what is extraordinary about this film?
it just looks like hollywood crap to me and totally unremarkable hollywood crap at that.
Beakerzoid 21-08-2006, 21:20 There is nothing extraordinary about the name at all...or the film. It is cheese ridden, cliche filled, nonsense thriller....but is just bloody fun! A total no-brainer B-movie flick which is just made for entertainment.
I went to see it last night and I can honestly say (without any shame) that I enjoyed the film.
It was so bad, it was good- if you get my meaning here. Snakes killing people and everyone in the cinema laughing!
Saw it last night and must say we both enjoyed it, kept thinking snakes were crawling around our feet. The title is not the best but Samual L Jackson is as good as ever in it. You should go and watch it!
One of the best bad-good films ever made!

Is he the guy who got eaten (in the only surprise of the film) by a shark in that killer shark B-movie ?
sufc_tom 23-08-2006, 13:37 Deep Blue Sea - Hahahaha - I remember cuing up in the cinema, anxious because the filmed looked amazing and for fear of not being allowed into see it due to it being a 15 and me being 14 and looking like 12 at the time!

Just been to see this tonight and got to say it's great fun! Dont be put off by the title, it's not a cheap tack B movie either, some really good special effects and funny but sick bits too.
Its the simplest storyline in the world but keeps you watching on the edge of your seat till the very end! Go see it, watch people die and actually come out laughing!!??!:hihi:
Really liked the film but thought my mate said we were gonna see 'sex on a train' and not 'snakes on a plane' - you can imagine the confusion when i watched it :P
I'm gonna have to get my ears cleaned out !
