I sincerely hope it's not just me that thinks the money used to build the new fountain/water feature-type thing could have been put to better use than that pathetic attempt.

So it's supposed to show us different periods of her life . . . . er . . .theres a curved bit, and another, oh and abit of a water fall. :loopy: :loopy:

Hmmm, Im sure we'll all flock to this wonderful peice of art to remember her.

Why not give her something more fitting like a Memorial Roundabout? It all seems very pointless to me but in context i don't like the monarchy.

Anyone else find the Queens speech a touch hypocritical?

Chris.

Di was a Puppit.

Lot's better things to spend the money on.

Real everyday people.

At the end of the day its come from her own Memorial Fund, you can't sulk about the money.

Chris.

This bit cracked me up..." I remember especially the happiness she gave to my two grandsons.". Why not "the happiness she gave to her children". It's almost as if the Queen is in denial the Diana was their mother !!

I imagine Diana would be quite pleased that people can cool off in her memorial and kids have fun splashing about. Much more satisfying than being a pidgeon perch....

I have to say I found the whole "Saint Diana" thing rather hypocritical and nauseating - she did some good things, she did some bad things - not someone who particulaly deserves a memorial in my opinion...

I agree all the way Neil, she went from slapper to saint in one car crash, the hypocrisy of the monarchy knows no bounds. Did Camilla aka hoss face attend todays ceremony ?

What was so good about Diana?
In the same week she died, Mother teresa died and she doesn't get half the commemoration that diana does despite being a hundred times the person diana could ever be.

It looks like Millhouses in the 70s

It'll be full of litter and surrounded by chavs in a few months

I don't know.. perhaps they could have funded a new wing of Great Ormond Street Hospital or something.

I have to agree, people die everyday - some who've slogged their guts out to bring up a family in horrible conditions, others who have had terrible diseases. War torn countries leaving behind homeless families etc . . etc . . Diana may have been a nice enough woman, but she was in a privelidged position most of her life.

There are people who die with no-one to tell their story of hardship yet others get far too much exposure for living a life free from any.

Absolute waste of money.

The nation supposedly wanted a Diana monument after her car crash, but didn't support the purchase of Raphel's Madonna and Child.

More should be spent on quality, worthwhile art and architecture, not momuments to celebrities
