Sir Patrick Moore is to miss two programmes in an otherwise unblemished 47 years of being on TV due to eating a dodgy Duck egg [couldnt make that excuse up if I tried !]

How many days do people have off on average, and whats the best/worst excuse you've heard ?

A Science teacher at my old school had numerous days off; in for a week, off again, in, off - but he came in again so he was within his "paid sick leave" then off again!!
Alex
average is 6 days in the private sector, 9 in the public sector per year.

I'm sure a lot of this is down to inadequate holiday allowances, and stupid restrictions - especially in the private sector. In my job (retail) we're not supposed to take any of our miserable holiday allowance between the start of October until the end of February. :loopy:
Try being self-employed - you don't take days off sick then 'cos no work means no pay!!
No time off sick in the 2.5 years I've had my current job.
and if you saw the stiff they had presenting the programme the other night you'd all join me in wishing Sir patrick a hearty 'Get Well Soon!'.
Actually I'm surprised they didn't get Brian May to do it as, a) he's an astronomer and b) He's a mate of Moore's.

You are dead right there Saxon, having just got off the self employed treadmill after 25 years, all I can say is that if I had put the same hours in working for someone else I would be a damned sight better off financially as well as health wise.
