I am in the process of buying a house in Halfway. The area looks nice and I just wondered if it is! Any comments from people who have lived there or still do would be appreciated! Cheers

No complaints at all - nice and quiet, no hassles. The neighbours are nice too :) Lindseyw 06-07-2004, 13:59 I live in Sothall & I love it.... Da Bouncer lives here too. It's a great area.... Rother Valley across the road is brilliant. Where in Halfway are you moving to ? DaBouncer 06-07-2004, 15:47 Originally posted by Lindseyw I live in Sothall & I love it.... Da Bouncer lives here too. Just to confirm - I don't actually live with Lindsey W :P However Sothall is a great area - I don't live at Halfway, but it is close and am guessing it's similar to Sothall so you'll be ok round there. SarahS 06-07-2004, 15:59 Cheers guys - as I say, I thought it looked nice but you never know do you? I can't remember the road name (useless I know!!) but it is near the Double Top pub. What's that like? sweetdexter 06-07-2004, 17:25 Seeing the Halfway thread reminded me of an old chum who used to live at Halfway. As far as I know it is still where he lives Does anybody know Tony Wills? If the answer is afirmative could they P.M me with info: Grissom 06-07-2004, 18:13 Originally posted by Lindseyw I live in Sothall & I love it.... Da Bouncer lives here too. Quite possibly the most useful post you have EVER made...! cruella 07-07-2004, 12:04 I have lived in Halfway for 3 years and i love it. Its quiet, peacefull and lucky you... the property keeps its value due to popular demand. I live on the area at the top end at the rear of Mosborough hall. There is a nice shortcut over the back of the houses to the local shops and..oh yes the best pubs in the area. You can stumble home over the 'Brow' with your chip supper..no taxis ..Exellent ! SarahS 07-07-2004, 12:07 Thanks everyone - it is really nice to know that everyone loves it so much!! I shall look forward to moving in even more than I was before! Thank you! Nibble25 07-07-2004, 13:07 Some parts did have youth problem. Kids from westfield have caused problems in the past.Just check it out. owdlad 07-07-2004, 15:54 Originally posted by t020 Halfway to where? Ho ho ho. Halfway between Chesterfield & Rotherham, and between Sheffield and Worksop....does that clear it up ? deano 07-07-2004, 20:16 Originally posted by cruella I have lived in Halfway for 3 years and i love it. Ho ho ho. Hate to admit it as I do, here is what happened to me this morning: I was waiting for a yellow tram to the arena, and a blue one came. I go 'Halfway?! Halfway?! Halfway to ****ing where?!' And had a small tantrum. Grissom 07-07-2004, 22:39 Not sure if its still there but near the new houses beside Morrisons at halfway there was a plaque that explained how Halfway got its name, and showed the various places that it is halfway between and the distances to each place/country. t020 07-07-2004, 22:39 Not even mildly amusing! ;) t020 07-07-2004, 22:40 Originally posted by rtapper Not sure if its still there but near the new houses beside Morrisons at halfway there was a plaque that explained how Halfway got its name, and showed the various places that it is halfway between and the distances to each place/country. But surely every place is halfway between 2 other places. Grissom 07-07-2004, 22:44 Originally posted by t020 Not even mildly amusing! ;) Wasnt meant to be :P And yes, I realise everwhere is half way between two places - they had to conjure up something to fill the plaque I guess  ToryCynic 07-07-2004, 22:47 Originally posted by t020 Not even mildly amusing! ;) Fair cop! Like it! Alex t020 07-07-2004, 22:48 I meant noseyrosie's post. I thought I could get away without quoting and be the next post after hers but by the time I'd posted you'd rudely stepped in! noseyrosie 07-07-2004, 22:55 t020 - I think alex and I got the joke, but it's unlikely rtapper did seeing as it refers to another thread ;) ToryCynic 09-07-2004, 00:36 For those of you that have got lost during the way it was the "Stuff For Kids To Do" thread (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13609) Alex Grissom 09-07-2004, 08:58 Originally posted by amhudson119 For those of you that have got lost during the way it was the "Stuff For Kids To Do" thread (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13609) Alex Ah, its all as clear as mud now :P HoneyGirl 14-07-2004, 15:50 Hi Sarah S, I live at Waterthorpe - near Sothall and Halfway and love it - handy for rothervalley, c. peaks and the trams etc - have to say not too many nice looking men in the area tho (unless I walk round blindfolded and guys im sure your'll correct me here haha) if your single!!! I am sure you are lovely though rtapper! :-) SarahS 16-07-2004, 08:07 Thank you by the way everyone! jenhoppy 16-07-2004, 18:18 Originally posted by Nibble25 Some parts did have youth problem. Kids from westfield have caused problems in the past.Just check it out. Speaking from experience some of the Halfway kids cause trouble at Westfield too.I know Halfway has had trouble with gangs of youths in the shopping precinct/Double top area i think the private estates are the best bets.Youths will congregate on every estate, especially these days with the lack of youth clubs etc..I know police patrols have increased in the westfield/halfway areas as the community van is always out and about, seems to be a lot quieter than the past 2 or so years anyway.Hope this helps. jenhoppy 16-07-2004, 18:21 Originally posted by rtapper Not sure if its still there but near the new houses beside Morrisons at halfway there was a plaque that explained how Halfway got its name, and showed the various places that it is halfway between and the distances to each place/country. yes i think its half-way between Mosborough and Killamarsh.Might be wrong but pretty sure thats what we were told at school in a local geography topic we did. |
