Hello!

Does anyone know how I can go about getting flyering or programme-selling work at/outside the Sheffield venues?

Is it mainly just agencies representing artists that you need to be in touch with or is it the venues themselves or what?

Thanks!

Ed

flyposting is illegal, giving out flyers is shortly to become illegal. £75 fine per item. Most of it is controlled by venues and they either use their own staff or they take gullible people on for free entry to the venue. It isnt really paid as such.

...However some people do pay reasonably for it, it is ussually organised by the individual nights at the venue, unless the venue puts their own night on if that makes sense. So Urban Gorilla would do the flyering not the venue.

If you are interested contact promotions people or phone up the venues, or ask the people that do it outside clubs. The bigger nights/venues will have someone in charge of promotions, but check you will get paid for it before taking the flyers.

Distrubuting flyers in bars etc will not be illegal, someone will still have to do that.

Flyering to be made illegal? News to me that one. Is this another 'concerted' effort by our lovely council to kill off Sheffield's clubbing underbelly or is it the usual September lip service? Most flyering is actually organised by the promoters although there are notable clubs who regularly take the proverbial. If the council actually had some sort of policy as opposed to banning all forms of promotion (aside from getting into bed with space advertising) this would be much less of an issue.
