:help:
Hello there. I am from Sheffield and I'm looking for someone who can crochet well. I have a ball to attend on the 26th Aug and would like a shawl/wrap to go with a crochet dress I intend to wear (leaving it late I know...) Can any of you guys please help?
Thank you

Hi Enaenid  .
I'm not a very good crocheter myself, but I think there are a few people on here who have mentioned that they do a fair bit of crochet.
A problem might be that the deadline is pretty close; with most folk working they usually have little time to indulge in knitting or crochet. I hope someone can help you out though.
Just in case you can't find someone to help, I know crochet was very big this summer. I bought two absolutely gorgeous crocheted tops last month in the John Lewis sale. I really recommend that you have a good look around town. You might be able to pick up a bargain :) .
I've moved your post into its own new thread, Enaenid. More people will notice it that way.
Hi there
I'm a bit of a whizz with crochet, but as Hecate said, you've left it rather late to ask.
Do you have a pattern for what you want? If you do, have you sorted out yarn etc for it? Sourcing these things can take time too, so you may be just too late (although if you have sourced things it could be quite a short job).
Whereabouts are you BTW?

Thank you very much for your reply...
I have had a look around but am unable to find anything to match the dress to give it that 'polished ball dress' look. I would post a picture of the dress but am very new to this forum stuff so not yet worked it out.
I will still continue to look around and will most certainly try John Lewis (thanks again) but would love if I could get something close to the dress I have bought. In the meantime I will keep my fingers crossed that you guys will come to my rescue...

Hi Medusa...
I know I've left it late <head bowed in shame>. The answer in short to your questions are an embarrasing ... no... please don't despair of me. I am not after anything fancy, at least I don't believe so. If pointed in the right direction i'm confident I could get the goods. I will take time of work if necessary, tomorrow! How about I send you a picture of the dress? I may need a little guidance on how to do this. I am in Norton, Sheffield
It all really depends on you finding a suitable pattern Enaenid. Most of my good patterns usually come from the wool shop in Firth Park, but I go there cos I'm that side of the city, and there may be somewhere closer to you.
If you can't find a pattern that you like then I'm most unlikely to be able to help you I'm afraid. There simply isn't time to freestyle something then be able to change it if there's something that you don't like, and most of my experience is with child size clothes so I wouldn't feel confident winging it (especially as it's to be worn for a ball).
How can I post a picture of the dress for you to view then you could see if you have a pattern in your collection that would suit?
I really feel that something plain would work real well
