For people who went there the school has now closed and will reopen on september the 12th as southey green community primary .I think this is very sad for the community because if it aint broken dont fix it so why have they done this thing , just thought i would let people know about the school. Its a sad day RIP southey green school

What a shame, I had my first cookery classes there. We had to march up from Shirecliffe School one morning a week. Made my first rock buns there, which Dad said were well named ;).
Southey Green community primary? would that be an infant school?

excuse my lack of understanding but what difference will it make for the school in general.
A name isn't going to change the running of it is it.

It's supposed to just be combining the infants and junior school together which I think is a good thing.

There has been talk of them doing this for quite sometime so good luck to them for finally getting round to it.

I used to go to Southey. It was a bloody good school, apart from a few of the teachers who would be called criminals these days.

I remember the Magnet, Southey Club & bus terminus, but can't remember where the school was, remind me.

The school is about a mile along the road going toward Sheffield lane top from the Magnet roundabout just before you reach Longley Park.
