A few years ago I read something about this little town in rural Spain. There was a population regeneration scheme in operation. They were trying to encurage families with children under the age of 5 to relocate there from other countries.
The town was an old town with most of the residents being older too. The problem was that businesses were going to close etc.etc. if they didn't get some young blood in there to keep the community going.
Has anyone else heard about this scheme too?

Yes Bonny, it was on television around a year ago, it was no good to me though all my rug rats are grown up and flown the nest (well nearly) but for any young family thinking of locating abroad it looked to be a great way of starting, as they were offering grants to move into their town. I would love to know how it went or if they started to breed their own instead...lol

Heard something simular was operating in remote parts of australia, there is an agency that will pay your relocation costs ect and give you help to set up a business(they encourage you to emigrate),therefore helping to build up a remote and dying area,
good idea if your up for that sort of thing, suppose all towns have to start somewhere.

Do you know or can you remember who produced the programme etc.?
I'm glad that I am not the only one who has heard of it. Can't find anything on the net about it.
