My camper has been parked up for a couple of months and has developed a noise in the engine. Someone told me that this is normal and just needs running in again and it will go away. Is this true or is it something nasty?
Any help appreciated.
|I know this is difficult to do, but you really need to describe what sort of noise and when you hear it.
Is it a low-pitched knocking, aq high pitched tapping, a screeching... does it only happen when idling or when accellerating?
Different noises mean different things

If your sure you never had the noise before, then it could be rust inside your piston chambers, this is because some valves may be open when the engine stopped and obviously on exhaust they lead out, so moisture can get in. So it may dissapear! It's not good to rest car engines for this very reason, better to start it up every week when not using it. Run till engine gets up to normal temp, if it doesn't go soon after then take it to a garage forth with!

No - old threads are left buried. Just use your best judgement before replying and you won't get flamed!
lmao - and VW camper problems aren't normally posted under Computer Tech and Chat!!

It was probably called "Ask an Expert" back at that time. It's just that most of the questions were computer related and it got renamed.
have you tried turning it off and back on again ?
