I'm just wondering if anyone else on here ever worked at Mandalls? I know a lot of platers and welders in Sheffield have past thought its doors in all the years it was opened.

I really enjoyed my time working there and am genuinely gutted that it closed, there were some real characters and some great lads worked there.

I worked there as a Plater in the 80's.
Used to do a lot of work for the Mines, companies like Dosco and Dowty.

I remember "Terry" on the rolls, who, in his spare time was an undertaker.

When i first started working there they were doing loads of work for Joy Mining, it was never ending! In the past year we were doing lots of work for Ling, David Browns and British Waterways.

I suppose the only up-side of it closing when it did is that every fab shop is desperate for platers, there seems to be a real shortage at the mo.
