View Full Version : Professionally sick/ ill people
Don_Kiddick 12-08-2006, 08:04 Just wondering if you know someone who, no matter what you're stricken with, they've had worse?
Someone who, if they haven't got it are related to/ best friends with someone who are a medical miracle?
Someone who keeps first aid equipment for special occasions?
Someone who has baffled the medical profession but cured themselves with supermarket bought dried herbs?
I did once, but they're dead now.

My old GP was like this, on the rare occasions I needed his help, he was always telling tales of how he had had my ailment, but much worst... When Mrs Grinder went with PMT I was expecting the GP to say he was suffering from PMT but worst than Mrs Grinder :loopy:
He took early retirement some years ago, or was it he retired on the grounds of ill health ;)
I remember visiting my GP in Sheffield and him smoking whilst doing consultations! He even had the gall to tell my mother off for smoking (not in his surgery I hasten to add), he was chugging away on Capstan, whilst my mother only smoked Park Drive phew :( Is it any wonder I hate smoking.

Yes, I have a friend just like that, also if she hasn't got it right at that time, she'll have it the following week after she's Googled it and added to it, one day she'll cry wolf, and drop dead because no one will belive her :hihi:

Yes yes yes! I have known the professional hypocondriac. Every twinge was suspect cancer, every yawn was ME. None of it, of course, interfered at all with her full time job and social life. I believe GPs call these 'heartsink patients'
However, simultaneously, I really did have a serious illness that poleaxed my life. Just the medication itself was paralysing. And the thing was, she was so impatient and cross with me. She didn't have any time for it when I mentioned my consultant's appointments, or my genuine incapacity for work. It was incredible. She's an ex-friend, by the way. :D
Or am I an example of the one-upmanship Nurse Kiddick was referring to? I do hope not. I'll show you my scars and everything... :suspect:
