Ignore the above - sorry carlos :(

For example - a normal championship golf course consists of 18 holes and has a par value of 72. That means that if you play exactly 72 shots over the course you finish the round at PAR.

Each hole of the 18 has a par value, usually par 3, 4 or 5. If you score one less than par on a hole then it is a Birdie, if you score two less than the par value it is an Eagle. And if you are lucky enough to score three less than the par value then it is an Albatross (or Double Eagle in the US). If you score one more than par it is a Bogey, two more then it is a Double Bogey, three more then it is a triple bogey....and so on.....

The scoring method above is for STROKE play and is used in the vast majority of tournaments in the professional circuit however there are some other very different scoring methods including Stableford and Matchplay, the mechanics of which I won't even attempt at this time of night :help:

Par is where the amount of strokes played match the hole strokes
four strokes under par is a Condor
three strokes under par is an Albatross
two strokes under par is an eagle
one stroke under par is an eagle
one stroke over par is a bogey
two strokes over par is a double bogey
three strokes over par is a triple bogey.

Hahahahahaha, thats just great. The only reason I posted on the thread was because the original answer was wrong, then I go and make a mistake too. Curse my pesky lack of checking what I type!
