View Full Version : View from your window
Hi there everyone,
Here?s another one question from the ?descriptive category? ? that?s just the term I've invented to myself.
This time I?m curious about the views from our windows. What do you see at the moment? Mine is nice, linden park, sun is shining through leaves, city centre, but it's the 'rural' spot of it.
It's 6 PM local time, Friday evening, warm and peaceful.
Fantomas 02-07-2004, 14:28 I can see past the Wards Brewery flats, the back half of the Classic Rock Bar and up over Broomhall to the University on the horizon.
As views go it's not too bad actually.
jackthedog 02-07-2004, 14:31 Right now I'm at work, so it's a rubbish view.
But from my window at home, all's I see is trees trees trees!
A grey industrial unit, grey sky and a magpie having a fight with what looks like a crisp packet.
Roll on 5 o'clock.
Solly Street.. Shalesmoor, the green hills of Neepsend and the snowy slopes of the Ski Village in the distance.. I can also see a magpie.. which is quite spooky.
I can see the beach, sand hills, and can just about see mount snowdon through the rain on the far side of the Liverpool bay. It's throwing it down with rain and blowing a gale force wind. Ot's been exactly the same weather for 2 weeks. I've forgotten what the sun looks like.
It better clear up where you are Andy, I'm going to Porthmadog in a couple of weeks.
Yodameister 02-07-2004, 15:34 Can see me and my neighbours' back gardens, trees all the way down to Longley Park, and the houses of Southey Green Road in the distance.
Much better than when I'm at work, which is some roads, some offices and Meadowhall car park.
Mosherchik 02-07-2004, 15:38 Hmm... not much the curtains are closed :P
But if they were open I would be able the see the lovely sun shining down on our front garden and all our neighbours front gardens, and quite possibly the nosey old woman who lives opposite with her binoculars and white slacks
Exciting cul-de-sac life
Help... I went to bed last night and when I woke somebody had bricked up my bedroom windows and locked me in.
ToryCynic 02-07-2004, 17:08 From the front looks on to our drive and hedge and further on is over the roads clapped out f reg Toyota space cruiser. From the back windows our 110 ft garden with a pond etc.
Alex
the hallamshire hospital mainly - but with trees in the distance

I'm on the Liverpool side of the bay Bonny (Crosby to be precise). Though from here wales is looking very dark and moody indeed. apparently the weather's going to be the same for at least another week. I'm getting well peeved. This is my summer holiday before starting a new job, back in sheff next week.
When i'm back in sheffield, i will be able to see ecclesall road from my window. I do spend a lot of time watching the world go by from there.
bulldog D 02-07-2004, 17:29 The blue waters of the aegean,
the crisp clean lines of the sunseekers prow
the bevy of heavenly golden bikini clad bodies minglin'
the clink of ice as it falls into the glass again!
the slight charcoal tint that exists on the world when you wear Raybans.
the sun on the port side
good friends, good times can't beat em

Yeah, Andy - Ecclesall rd, Hunters Bar, Endcliffe park, the cottage, the brook, the lescar (Gone well down hill since Duncan has taken it over.. open to debate..)
Welcome back.
By the way, its peeing down here, as wel
From the front window I see my garden as it slopes uphill, from the back window I can see Lodge moor all the way across to the ski village. I can see one of the power stations near Doncaster on a clear day.
I can see the stannington red brick flats and some noisy construction workers working on my neighbour's back garden.
They woke me up at 8 AM and I have a bloody hangover!
From home i have the house across the road and up the road with trees on it and the pub at the top. So, I can see the pub from here.
At work i can see on to the playgound and field. Sometimes there are children out there, and they are usually noisy, playing footie or doiing something they are not supposed to be. :nono:. Though we do occasionally get the view of a very nice P.E. teacher and/or caretaker. Makes it all worthwhile. (note to self, i must do more washing up, the view is good)

I'm not back yet, not till thursday. The lescar is my favorite pub, I don't think I knew it with the previous manager.
Just for the record it's still windy and rainy.
mr craig 03-07-2004, 18:24 I can see a balcony,West St,loads of Seffield University buildings and some nice green hills in the far distance.
Sam Miguel 03-07-2004, 18:35 I am sitting in the East Wing at the moment, so all that I can see is the top of my trellis which sits on the top of the wall and a tall leylandia hedge that needs trimming at the back of my beer garden.
Interesting really.
I currently see,two chavvy looking individuals loitering outside the shop.
It could be that these burberry (fake) wearing persons are considering going in an buying 10 Mayfair and a bottle of white Ice (death in a bottle) ,but I doubt it very much.
ta very much ;) everyone,
this makes up a perfect multiple webcamera that enhances one?s imagination perfectly
Sheffield seem to be very green + lively city and friendly too!
Andy78, don?t get upset with fierce weather at Liverpool,
we have a pouring rain that makes a cup of coffee so worthy.
Cheers!
Thanks vovakr, You'll be pleased to know that today it's sunny and warm. The sea looks so much nicer twinkling under the sun. Today I can see people flying kites, and people wind surfing. There's a fair few dog walkers out and about too. Feeling far happier when the weather is like this.
Hope the rain lets up for you soon Vovakr.
magicgem 05-07-2004, 16:34 I can see Sheffield! By bouncing up and down on my bed and looking out of my sky light window type thing I can look down at lovely Sheffield from the gloriousness of Crookes!
Also wheres the rain lescar? I must be confused its really sunny here!
At home from my front window, small block paved front garden with my daughter's car parked on it and some plants along the side, front wall then the pavement and grass verge complete with flowering cherry tree. Across the road are the neighbours houses and front gardens.
Kitchen window and patio door, our very long garden with pond and at the end the banking that goes up to the next street above, which has the neighbour above's pivet hedge and trees.
At work: window behind me - West One development. Windows at other side the car park behind Weatherspoons.

sheffield

Hi.....
Nice to meet you
Welcome..Enjoy.
Blossom on the trees springing into action :)
If i could knock down the 2 houses opposite , i would be able to see the Island Of Arran.
But for now my view is of the funeral parlour across the road.
I have a fantastic view over open parkland, with squirrels and birds in the trees. Give it a few weeks and the view will be diminished as the trees leaf up. But I'll settle for that.
sheffield_uk 18-03-2009, 11:54 I have a nice view of the hillside/trees nr taybarns/mcdonalds and tankersley manor and open fields all the way between me and there....apart from the recycling place between us but i cant actually see that for all the trees :)
woodland & fields. think emmerdale... :hihi:

Here's mine.
JohnnyMathis 18-03-2009, 13:43 I've got shatton moor in front of me, Bamford church on the left, and Winhill on the right.
Then if I move this side of the house I've got Bamford Edge in front and the lower end of the Derwent valley on the left.
Agent Orange 18-03-2009, 13:45 I see dead people.

That's good as you live in a basement in Pitsmoor.
jasontsang 18-03-2009, 13:46 i see a few kids in school uniform sitting on wall smoking and enjoying the sunshine

Optimax can do some magical procedures nowadays!!
Parked cars, parked cars and................... oh yes, more parked cars. It's like living in a bloody car park!!!
From the front windows I see a field, the Moray Firth. The black Isle.
Directfully opposite is Chanonry Point ( with the dolphins) to the right is Fort George.
From the back windows I see fields and a pine forrest.
My visitors are deer, badgers, sheep and birds of prey.
I live at the end of a road with no neighbours no road and no street lamps I am as some would say in the middle of a field.
I'm no good at describing stuff so here's some pictures! First two are what I see from my bedroom (tennis court and pool in first and some houses in another commons on the right). Third is from my parent's bedroom in the front, not too much exciting stuff going on haha! Excuse the screens.
