View Full Version : I have been robbed!
Hi
Just thought I would warn people that on Tuesday night somebody broke into my house an took my car keys for my Corsa and my dads van keys and stole our cars.
They didn't take anything else just the cars and they have writ mine off at Neepsend about 1/2 an hour after they took it, it is a right mess. My dads Vauxhall Caddy van is still missing.
The police have said that there has been quite a few thefts like this with the people breaking in just for car keys.
I am so angry I have only had my car not even 3 months and to see what they had done to was awuful.:(
Oh god Bambi that is so bad. I hope they find the thieving little gits

So do I, an I hope that they hurt themselves in the process of wrecking my car:mad:
*Twinkle* 10-08-2006, 08:46 Oh my God I'm so sorry bambi :(
I always make a point of hiding my car keys in the house, taking them with me or whatever...
*hugs and kisses*

I know exactly how you feel. While i was living at my mum and dads somebody broke into our house after following my brother home from his girlfriends house one night and pinched my dads car keys, and my brother van keys thinking they was the keys to his Subaru but they was wrong, they did get caught though and both sets of keys were found  xx
sTaGeWaLkEr 10-08-2006, 09:09 Oh Bambi, that's pants!
I hope their bits dry up and drop off!
In the meantime, I would strongly urge you to get locks changed on both vehicles...if they have the keys, they can take the car....and with no sign of forced entry.
Talk to a scrapyard about replacement locks, it may not cost what you might think. Alternatively, maybe try ebay?
Also, talk to your insurance company and advise them as to what's happened, just in case.
Hope the worst doesn't happen, but it might be best to take precautionary measures.
Hugs

My car has been wrote off and they haven't found my dads van, (they took the cars) we have had the locks on the front door changed cos they had the house keys on with the car keys!!
They forced the window at the front of the house open to get in!
lalaland 10-08-2006, 09:27 That's terrible news and I wish you luck with sorting everything out.
The only positive point about this is that none of your family were hurt, it could have been much worse. A car can be replaced whereas people can't.
Let's hope they catch the scum that did this.
I don't know wat is worse though, wat they have done to my car or the thought of them creepin round my house while I was asleep and I didn't hear a thing!!!
Just waiting for the link to your photos to arrive, I'll post it on here then.

Here we go, the link for the pictures of Bambi_'s car :(

personally I make a point of leaving my car keys near the door... if they broke into my house i'd rather they leave with my car keys in a few seconds rather than have them snooping around my house for 1/2 hour.
although it is terrible, i'd at least be slightly relieved that they didn't trash your house and they just took your car!

The police have just contacted us to say that my dads van has been found burnt out on the mannor. What did they gain from doing this, they wrote mine of after 1/2 an hour and burnt the van out after a day  I doubt they will find who did it but even if they did they would probs only get a slapped wrist!!!

If they are caught the defence will argue some b******s that they are poor children from deprived backgrounds who have been let down by the state and do these things because they are bored.
Rather than hanging the b******s.

It's so pointless isn't it? What *is* going on inside these people's heads? So sorry to hear about what's happened to you - must be sad to see your car like that. Saying that you get "attached" to them isn't really accurate, but you know, we buy a car, it's a big purchase, obviously we're quite proud of it, we look after it, we spend a lot of time in it - to have someone wreck it on purpose for no reason would make anyone angry and upset.

I know it's just a car but it was my first car and I spent all my time out of work in it, I was the first thing that I have ever owned that has been totally mine and that is actually worth somthing. I have had it less than 3 months but I can't remember wat I used to do without it, I feel lost :(
Bambi_
if they ever find who did it, i will personally rip heads off and shove it up their **cough** should i say where the sun doesnt shine.!!
ya know wat gets me mad, the idiots (Been the nice word for them) that did it, we probably know of, or someone we know know's them.
if ya catch my drift

bobsyouruncle 10-08-2006, 14:14 sorry to hear about your car, our neighbours car was broken into not so long ago, fortunately I was still up and heard the sound of smashing glass, I instinctively shot to the front door as its normally quite at that time this happened, I saw a lass put the passenger side window through, I shouted at her, and she jumped into a car sat waiting in the middle of the road, I got the reg number and a description of the people, my neighbour phoned the police, and told me they would come and get a statement off me the following day-they never bothered, and afaik, the car wasnt stopped or the culprits caught.
no suprise there then. :loopy:
my sisters keys were "fished" through the letter box, apparently they could see the badge through the frosted glass,be careful folks.

I was quite supprised by the police actually cos there were 4 police that came to my house at 2.30am (2 patrole cars) and the next day the burglary squad came and the finger prints guy came pretty sharpish, I was expecting to be waiting around for them all day!!
That really is s*** Bambi, i feel for ya. Bet you are well and truly gutted. Good people work hard for nice things and absolute w****** just come along and steal them and destroy them, makes you sick! I hope they really hurt themselves when they wrote your car off. Hopefully they'll get whats coming to them....
Bikertec 10-08-2006, 17:11 Sorry to hear about your cars Bambi, the police are useless. The problem is with the technology now its easier to break into the house for the keys rather than break into the car and try and start it. What a world we live in.
Sorry to hear about the car and the van. Similar thing happened to my auntie & uncle at xmas when they were on holiday. They ended up taking my aunties Freelander after being unable to open to garage for the Porsche. They caught someone driving it. When it went to court he got something like a three month suspended sentance even though he was a known car thief and a druggie. The authorities should cut their ******* hands off the thieving *****.
Elan Tedrona 11-08-2006, 08:58 sorry to here this. It's just a shame that your hard earned money goes down the drain in a few minutes.
On another note.there was this guy who told me about this saudi trip he had for buisness purposes.Anyways he was going to the market to buy some gold necklaces for his wife.On the way he heard the muslim call to prayer. When he got to the shops they were closed. So he waited. But something caught his eye. There was this group of men praying outside a gold shop.Their backs turned away from the shop door.
But the amazing thing was the shop was open and not closed. He was astonished. He went over to have a closer look and he could'nt believe it.The shop door was open and the shop was teeming full of gold rings, bracelets etc.
He waited for the men to finish. He saw a guy approaching him and then asked him if the shop is his.And the guy said yes.My friend then asked him how come he left his shop open. The guy replied by saying that for 10 years now he has left his shop door open when he had to pray and not one burglar stole anything. He said when the price of stealing expensive goods was the cutting of hands then people think twice before committing a crime.
Grahamfff 11-08-2006, 09:06 I also had my car stolen in similar circumstances - ie someone got into my house (admittedly through a slightly open window) and took my keys.
In my case, however, the police were great - spotted a known ne'r do well driving a car that was pretty obviously not his, stopped him and recovered my car no more than 12 hours later.
Similar thing happened to my friend Monday night. Her car was broken into and stolen and found the next day smashed up around the corner from where she lives.
She has not heard anything from the police since they found the car, no finger prints took or anything.

The police dusted all my car (well what was left of it) and also in the house where they had been but they were wearing gloves so nothing came of that.
Yes my friend does live in S5 so it could possibly be same people. Since seeing your post Bambi and hearing of my friends car me and my husband have decided to get some gates fitted at the top of our drive asap.

Well my dad is going to fit some of thoses metal post things that u concrete in the ground and have to unlock with a key to put down then drive over and put back up. Our drive is too wide for gates there is no where to put them.
I am also getting a Clifford alarm for my new car wen I get it straight away. If they wana come and try it again they are gona have a job getting anywhere near the house and car without the whole of S6 hearing!!!

Our drive is too wide for gates there is no where to put them. You'll porbably find that these are more effective than gates anyway if fitted correctly and a decent kit bought.

If they wana come and try it again they are gona have a job getting anywhere near the house and car without the whole of S6 hearing!!!Make sure it comes with an imobiliser. Alarms are good, but often don't stop people making away with your vehicle. I know Clifford make decent imobilisers, so get one of these with the alarm and even if they do break in they won't be going anywhere.
And I think that all (if not, then most) Clifford stuff is Thatcham approved, so you'll get an insurance discount too if you declare it once fitted (which you'll probably need now you've had to claim for this unforunately)

My neighbour has one of those as well as gates they are really good. It makes me mad the lenghts we have to go to to keep our property protected.
I keep my car key in my bedroom, so if someone fancied a go at it, they have to pass the front door, my dog and me. So best of luck scummies :)

Yeah thats what I am going for, I think there is also some guarantee that if they do nick your car you get your full money back or somthing along thoses lines.

I am dreading my next quote, I have only been driving since may and I am only 22 so my insurance isn't that great anyway :(

I know, we should be able to park our cars anywhere and not have to worry about whether it will still be there wen we get back, it makes me so mad:rant:

The only thing that worries me about this is if my keys hadn't been downstairs would they have come upstairs for them and luckily my dad was at home but he works away quite alot so I am on my own a fair bit of the time.

and that's why I ignore the police advice and I leave my car keys near the door. much rather they take my car than come up stairs where me, my girlfriend, and 4 year old daughter are asleep.
screw that

Thats my thoughts exactly, I would much rather lose my car by them been in and out in 5 mins rather than have some scum routing through my things and coming upstairs while I sleep and been in my house god knows how long searching for em!!
Bambi
How did they break into your house?
A window / a door?
Think we will have to take a look and really see how secure our house is.
That is one of my biggest fears having our house broken into as you dont know what they are carrying these days or who will get hurt.

They broke in through a window on the front of the house, the window is about 9ft high and a small sash type so they must have been a skinny runt to get through it, it was on that night vent thing and they prised it open!! Ironically, the window is fine and hasn't broken or been sprained or anything so they knew wat they were doing. They did leave nice big muddy footprints all over the window cill and settee though oh and they moved the vase of flowers too!!!
