it took me an hour and eight minutes to get from upperthorpe to shirecliffe because of the tail to nose traffic, but didnt see a fire that was at 5 11 pm

I got stuck for a while there too (around 4.20pm), but coming in the other direction fortunately.
I saw a couple of fire engines round the back of the Norton (?) kitchen place. The hose was connected to a point in the middle of the opposite side of the road so there was a fireman waving single file traffic through, slowly over the hose.
Don't know exactly where the fire was though.

I heard on radio Fire service had part of road blocked off but was home by then. Mum's workmate had trouble around 4:30pm - 5pm.

Would be interested to know what it was.

the grass feilds was on fire back of the old croda paints (norton kitchens) building there was another fire crew tackling it from the top of shirecliffe heliport.
