Not sure where it is, India perhaps? (not sure how many other countries drive on the left)

looks like a place I went to in China (though they are on the right)..... I was a passenger in the car , **** myself , they drive like bloody idiots. One hand on steering wheel & the other on the horn. Still safer than walking, if theres a queue they'll drive on the pavement.

Everyone doing their own thing with lots of 'give and take' and a bit scary for pedestrians, but no significant delays to the traffic.
Funny how lots of junctions here work quite well when the traffic lights are out ;)
There's an experiment somewhere in Europe, where they removed all the priorities, which makes people just have to consider other road users, and so far it's working well.
Most of the problems with our traffic is the stupid way people have a 'my right of way' mentality. It only takes for 2 people wanting to turn right in opposite directions for the road to get completely blocked in both directions, as nobody will let anybody else go anywhere

The video looks to have been speeded up, which makes it look less controlled than it actually is! :suspect:
I'm living in China at the moment , in a provincial capital of 5 million people .
At first sight the traffic is horrendous and chaotic , almost exactly as in the video . Lots of ' developing countries ' have this same problem i.e. the traffic volume has outstripped the introduction of regulations .
Having said that , one doesn't see any [ or many ] accidents in the urban areas . I think this is because all the drivers tend to be tolerant and/or wary of each other . Everyone is prepared for the worst !
An Egyptian friend of mine , talking about the unbelievable traffic chaos in Cairo once made a very interesting point about traffic accidents . He said , " In the U.K everyone expects everyone else to obey the rules . So , when someone does mess up , there tends to be a ' concertina ' effect . " Maybe that's why one sees so few bad accidents in Chinese cities . Most of the really tragic accidents here , seem to take place on 'B' roads , in the country , and involve miscalculations with overtaking , or going too fast on dodgy mountain roads .
I've just been sitting , drinking , at a pavement bar , on a main road and the traffic was very heavy and of all kinds :- bicycles , powered bicycles , scooters , motorbikes , cars , taxis , buses and huge lorries carrying God Knows What . Children were strapped into baskets at the back of their parents' bikes , not a crash helmet in sight , not one of the bicycles had lights , no traffic lights , pedestrian crossings totally ignored ; and yet , as I said , rarely do you see any kind of problems in the cities . Scary ? Yes , for a Westerner . Dangerous ? I don't think so .
