Can anyone offer me any advice, I have been off work due to back and leg pain for 6 months (during which time I have had an operation on my back, for those who presume I'm faking) and my employer is going to stop paying me sick pay at the end of this month.
I am still not in a position to return to work as I am still in pain and I don't know when if ever i will be able to return to work. What can I do with regards to my income, would I be entitled to any benefit or not as I am still employed?
Any advice from anyone who has gone through this would be appreciated, or from anyone else who might know.
Thanks in advance.

the best thing to do go to job center and they will inform you of what you are entitled to unless someone knows all the relevant facts it is impossible to work put just what you entitled I think he has a sick note the question he wants answering is what and where do YOU GET BENEFITS when the statuory sick pay runs out
Yes, I have extended my sick note but my concern is the lack of pay after this month and what, if anything, I am entitled to benefit-wise.

You should be entitled to some level of Statutory Sick Pay and/or Sick Pay at Pension Rate from your employer or the government.
If you're off sick you'll probably be entitled to incapacity benefit of some kind but that would depend on your circumstances.
Contact Jobcentre Plus (www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk) and see what they can tell you.
Thanks neverwrong, I'll get along there as soon as I can. I don't like those places though, guess I'll just have to grit my teeth and bear it though!

I think your employer may have the option of putting you on to long term disability. This normally means that you get assessed and then your employer claims your salary from their insurance company. Its normally a percentage of your salary however - often 80% or 90% though, so you could live off it. Check your company's benefits package.

Jen, as far as I know, if you're still in employement, even if you're sick, you're not entitled to any benefits other that the statutory sick pay (which I think is about £70 a week). I am not 100% sure though so you're better off checking with the Job Centre like it was suggested, good luck...
