So, i bought a new bike yesterday, beautiful black and yellow Old fashioned style Dutch bike....

Been really careful with her when parking it in my hall next to my BF's bike...cycled it to work this morning and parked it in the bike shed,..next to a column, so its slightly out of harms way.

However, i went down to show a colleague this lunchtime and it has a great big dirty scratch down the mud guard!

I am so ******* angry,....its obviously the bike in front and they must have just shoved their bike through the little metal loop thing and not even cared....

Why do people have no consideration or respect for other peoples property....

My Bike obviously looks brand new and you'd have thought they might of realised to by extra careful, i know i would!

Not sure what to do about it though as there are about a thousand people working in my offce and a couple hundred bikes in the shed,....this person has also left there rain coat etc, over the bike to dry i was so tempted to through it on the roof, but i wouldnt because i would then be as bad as them!!

What would you do?

Some people treat their stuff like crap and because of that, they assume that everybody else does too.
Personally Id be tempted to wait for the owner to come back and give them a piece of my mind, but is it worth it? Theyd probably think you were picking on them or somehting.

You're right, there are too many people out there with a complete lack of respect for others and their property. They just don't care, which is irritating to say the least. I'd try not to worry about it though. Life's too short. Look on the bright side, it was going to get scratched eventually, so at least you've got the trauma out of the way early on!

I think i'm gonna write a note and leave it on there bike asking them to contact me,...i.e. give my ext #

I can either leave the subject out or i can try to be friendly and ask them if they have insurance and to give me a call to sort it out.

Of course they can choose to ignore it but the chances that i find out who it is eventually is pretty high if i remember what bike they have and then i will certainly give them a piece of my mind!

I wouldnt mind but it is was me i would probably leave a note saying sorry and that i would be happy to pay for the repair, or new mud guard.

One word can describe it - jealousy - cos they probably cant afford something like that.

I know how annoying it can get. My example was a few years ago. I bought a brand new Corsa and paid an extra £400 for the paint. 3 weeks later went shopping and some ****** had hit the car with a shopping trolley, taking the paint off completely all the way down the the metal and dinting it in the process. I know it was a trolley cos we put our trolley against the car and it was exactly the right height.

Whoever did it is a total ******

Thats must have been really frustrating!

I'm calmed down slightly now and decided to not waste more energy by being annoyed by this ****,....Karma and all that!

Someone keeps coming to steal the (expensive) pot plans my mum puts on the front garden. Considering I keep a black bladed samurai sword next to my bed, they're pretty brave :)

I bet they would think twice if they saw you weilding that thing!

You should put something nasty in them next time like, something that would give them a rash or give an allergic reaction....not sure what, but it might stop them

My dog was once barking at 5am (very rare) so thought someone was outside, ran out completely in the buff with a machete screaming for them to come out.. and then noticed it was just a balloon that had popped (it was my brothers bday) on the fence. Considering I live next to retirement flats, I quickly shot back inside before the coffin dodgers caught an eyeful :)

If they did, no doubt they would complain.

I would remove their rain coat, and keep it somewhere safe, but out of sight. when the owner tries to claim it somehow, you can tackle them about the scratch.

There are a number of plants that will do this without any additions.
