hello all....
was wondering if some one could help me...ive been a sufer of the internet for quite a few years now and my laptop is slowing down....my friends reckon it might be something to do with so many problems occupying unecessary space in R.A.M.
HOw do i get rid of these programs....even tho they are not running they are still occupying space, and my laptop as incredibly low....it is very frustrating!

Could do with an idea of what your laptop is running - Windows 98 / ME / 2000 or XP or Linux etc? I'm guessing Windows...

Hard drive or RAM?
The files on the HD only take up room in RAM when they are loaded (ie at boot up or by double clicking a program icon in Windows). They then get romoved from memory when you exit them.

Try deleting IE's cache, run ccleaner (Google it), then try a defrag of the HD:thumbsup:
If you mean programs running in the background. Which I think is what your friends mean then you can disable ones you dont need, how depends on your operating system (win 98, me, 2000, xp or other). If you do happen to be using XP you can go to Start > Run and type in MSCONFIG, and one of the tabs shows what loads at startup. Anything you dont need can be disabled from there (by unticking it). If you dont know what something is dont remove it untill you have found out, as it could be important! :thumbsup:
